Abortions and the bible.

I am pro-choice:

The moment you make the choice to lie on your back, spread your legs, and participate in an activity that can produce a child (fellas, that goes for you, too), that’s where your choice ends.

Beyond that, any of the other muckety-muck is useless to me.

A philosophy professor puts it rather succinctly:

I was pro choice until we had our first. It changed my perspective the moment I heard the heartbeat. It immediately changed definitions.

^ you're letting emotions decide this one for you. A spider has a heartbeat.

If it's a sin to have an abortion, let god be the judge and smite the non believers when judgement comes. Seems like people don't have as much faith in the ultimate judgment of their chosen deity and want society to carry out punishment to non believers. How does society benefit from laws that turn unwanted pregnancies into unwanted babies? When are the churches in states with these far right laws going to open up orphanages? It's the woman's choice and has absolutely no bearing on anyone else's life and well being. Not to mention most of the pro lifers could care less if they have healthcare after birth because they may have to pay a little extra in taxes. Basically the evangelicals just want to see someone punished and laws to affirm their biblical belief.

I’m far from an evangelical but what is wrong with expecting people to take personal responsibility for their lives..... I had an unwanted pregnancy.....didn’t run from it.... moved the mom in with me.... worked two jobs to try to support what I helped create.... now I wouldn’t trade any thing in the world for my son.....

Next time a woman has a miscarriage, we should hold god responsible for the death of the unborn fetus. God is a stone cold baby killer.

If a woman has a miscarriage, the first thing you should ask her is if she has ever had an abortion before... or multiple abortions. The human body is a funny thing. If a woman has had multiple abortions, the body gets used to the trauma and trained to purge a birth before it reaches full term. For example, Sherri Shepherd, former host on The View...

And before anyone says "not all miscarriages", not all...

The Mayo Clinic is unsure if you are accurate

Abortion: Does it affect subsequent pregnancies?

"At this point, what difference does it make."
Agreed but how many on the other side jumped on the part of the report where Trump said he was ****ed bc of the mueller appointment. They all didn’t read. It was clear he didn’t say it bc he thought he was guilty. Yet many on here thought it was a gotcha moment and even worse many in the press presented it that way.

So you chose to be pro life. Is that the choice you've chosen?

I respect you for being a REAL man. Half of these lib poons would have been pressuring their mate to kill an innocent child. You are a real man and i bet your son looks up to you. There was a time, not that long ago, when nearly all men were like you and I. When my wife , at 18 , told me she was pregnant, we had kinda quit seeing eachother. She had realized how much i partied, and didnt want that. I immediately asked her to marry me, over the phone as i was 1200 miles away. She said no, and i dont blame her. I quit drinking, started going to church with her, got saved and got her, too. We ended up getting married later. And our son was the ring bearer, just a little guy. Best thing that ever happened to me. Wish there were millions more honest men that take responsibility for their actions.

Review of Beckwith book:
The result is that while Defending Life covers an impressively wide range of moral, legal and political topics, its argumentative force is seriously diminished by a general lack of depth and rigour and a puzzling failure to consider several further issues and arguments which any comprehensive defence of the pro-life position should address.

In the bible, God murdered Bathsheba's newborn baby, killed all the first born sons in Egypt, sent bears to murder children, commanded Joshua to murder the children in Jericho, and all babies were wiped out during the flood. It also talks about dismembering children and cutting them out of the mother's womb.

So please help me understand, why do some crazy Republican Christians think their God doesnt approve aborting a fetus of an unwanted pregnancy?

Have you ever heard of the TEN COMMANDMENTS,
I didn’t think so!

That's about as magical as a sperm (I guess a non-living thing) swimming around looking for an egg to fertilize.
I just do not view a zygote as a human life. Again, some do and some don't.

You are the kind of person that I would hate to be on the battlefield with, when the live rounds start buzzing..... but i’ve never seen an atheist on the battlefield, not one!

I really hate the topic of abortion because I can honestly see both sides of the argument. But just answering the question on the conditions set, is God ordering women to have abortions? Your first paragraph states what God did or ordered. How does that relate to what humans do? I mean, you can't really compare the actions of God to the actions of man. It's not equal. We are not God.

If you're Christian, God set certain rules to follow. Thou shalt not kill. The big question is when does life begin? Everyone has their own opinion, and everyone is entitled to that opinion. Some people believe life begins at conception. Some believe at the first heart beat. And some believe not until actual birth. I don't know who's right. I don't believe God ever told us. So we're left to our own devices. Given that, is it really that hard to understand why some think God doesn't approve of abortion?

It's not murder. But isn't that kind of the sticking point.
Is it killing? You can say it's not murder, but can you say it's not killing? Are you ending a life or not? At what point do you consider it a life?

For some people this issue is black and white, but I see so much grey. I understand arguments from both sides. I don't know who's right. My personal preference is pro-life. But as a man, I question my right to make such decisions for women. Who am I to tell them what they can or cannot do with their own bodies?
