Give me your hottest takes in life

Not to derail the thread, but as someone with a sister who's a podiatrist and finished her schooling with 200K worth of debt, I will say it was definitely worth it in her case. She was even fortunate enough to find a job (in her hometown ftr) that helped her with the debt, which I hear is becoming increasingly common in numerous medical fields because of your first sentence. Even without the assistance it still would have been worth it though. Just don't flunk out lol
Debt to attend a medical school is probably the form of student debt that is most likely to be worth it, particularly if the labor shortages @BAJAvol talk about materialize. Any field that is currently experiencing a labor shortage is a great field to get into, at least from a financial perspective, and borrowing money in order to enter said field can be worth it.

Demand for that stuff is just going to keep increasing over time, and if the labor pool just continues to get relatively smaller, it means big $$$ for the docs.

I like Chick-fil-A but I much prefer zaxby’s
If Chick-fil-A didn't exist, Zaxby's would easily be the best fast food chain chicken out there, although I haven't had Raising Cane's. Zaxby's chicken is incredibly salty though, and I say that as a person that loves salt.

Also, show me a person who says they don't like Chick-fil-A and I'll show you a liar.

I try not to judge those kind of choices. For example a decent amount of people around here like Krystal and I find it absolutely disgusting

My wife is the same way. Absolutely hates it.

I liked Krystal a lot more when I was younger - I'll eat it today but think it is overrated. I actually haven't had a gutbomb in years. White Castle is better.

I sincerely don't. If my wife and kids want it for dinner, I'll grab me a pizza. I have nothing against them, and I don't like Zaxby's either.

Not just "how are you doing," but continuing to ramble after asking any question. Happens all the time.

Lots of times people aren't interested in getting an actual question answered but just like to hear themselves talk, need to vent, etc.

Going the other way, there are some people you learn never to say "how ya doing?" to because they're more than happy to tell you way more than you want to know at the slightest provocation.

I remember one old guy I used to have to call for work sometimes that was like that. I said "how ya doing?" one time and he started in like "I'm not feeling that great today. I didn't get much sleep at all last night because I kept having bad nightmares...." and he went on and on. Occasionally that stuff can be entertaining but most of the time it's like ain't nobody got time for that.

When my wife got into essential oils, I was like, “I only have one essential oil. Whatever they cook that Chik-fil-a is my essential oil.”

You definitely have to be smart. Podiatry is a good choice because there is only like 6 schools in the entire US. So the saturation of their market is unlikely. But other healthcare professions are in danger of schools ruining the supply in my opinion. I'll use denistry as an example since I have looked into it so heavily. My only option would be to attend UTHSC and this example is at current tuition rates.

Total Tuition and Fees for 4 years at the current rate: $134,631
Total Books and Supplies at the current Rate: $28,900
Total Tuition, Fees, Books, Supplies: $163,531

Lets assume you find a decent place to rent in Memphis close to campus for $650 per month. That is $31,200. Let's be ultra conservative and say you only spend $1,000 per month on food, gas, misc expenses. That is $48,000.

Total School and Living Expenses: $242,731
Assuming Student Loan at conservative 5%: $66,214
Total Cost of School: $308,945

This is for the state school. Not a private school. That is the cost for a job that a new grad is probably going to start at around $120,000 a year and all of these are conservative numbers. It's more than likely going to be over $350,000 when it is all said and done. It's to the point to where if you do not receive some sort of merit based scholarship, earn a full ride through HRSA or the armed forces, or have a family member pay for it....you might as well forget it. Is it doable? absolutely. But this is why the suicide rates for dentists and other doctors are on the rise. We shouldn't let our healthcare providers get to that point in this country.

This is true. It's still sickening it costs a half mil + to become a physician. It's a lot harder on your family docs vs. specialists. What happens if you get to year 2 of residency and become unable to practice due to a car accident for example? These are the things that I think about. I would give anything to become a doctor. My dream was always to become a doctor. How do I tell my wife, "honey, I know we are starting a family, but I am going to put us in debt of at least $500,000 for a while. If we are lucky, i'll get a residency close to home in a specialty so it doesn't take us 20 years to pay it off. Keep your fingers crossed I never get sued, lose my license, or both."

I was a "radio personality" for the local Top 40 station for a while. I also selected and scheduled music for the station.
The first time I heard Miley Cyrus, I horse-laughed and said, "this will NEVER work!"
Whether the music was good or not, it was my job to pick out what would be a hit or not. I sincerely thought the record label was wasting time and money pushing the little girl from Hannah Montana as a real singer. Her voice was terrible and she wasn't even attractive. I was adamant!
Yeah...that was a swing-and-a-miss on my part. I still think she stinks, but I should have known it would have worked on Top 40 radio.
