Dany's death was so anti-climactic. I accept she had to die, but I wish it would have been more dramatic.

So that was a fantastic shot, where Jon was climbing the stairs, and Dany appeared, and Drogon spread his wings behind her, as if they were her wings.

I still thought it would have been very in character for Sam to say Jon. Jon was constantly having leadership thrust upon him. In that moment, it seemed wrong to me for them not to mention Jon as the rightful heir.

One thing I don't really understand, when the council is gathered and faced with choosing a king, why didn't Sam suggest his "best friend" the rightful heir to the throne? I doubt Grey Worm would have went along, but it seemed out of character for Sam, IMO.

The wheel didn't get broke and everyone sitting there knew there was no political capital in supporting Jon at that point.

I can except that of others, but Sam? Like I said, it's just my opinion, but it seemed out of character for Sam. He's always been loyal.

After mulling it over, I think that ending didn't necessarily disappoint, but it did leave me feeling unsatisfied.

It if you think about it, he WAS saying Jon. He was asking for a popular vote for the most natural leader, and that would have been Jon.

By nature and by training, Samwell would always have been asking for the best vote, rather than for specifically for the politically expedient or the currently winning candidate.

Well there were a lot of gaps. A several week time jump before tyrian is brought before that council... Nothing on varys's letters... No immediate action seen about Jon after he killed Dany... No time spent on assembling that council or their reaction to what happened in KL...

Stuff they could have easily done another episode, or two, on.

Yes, they did a good job in maintaining the uncertainty.

Despite the objections of * cough * some of us here, the artistic touches do make a difference.

Not that it's satisfying, but wasn't the ending basically how the real world works? Everyone hopes for a miraculous change when powers shift and wars end...but the wheel turns on.

I thought the last "roundtable" meeting was a hilarious spoof on government.

Jon never really fit in anywhere in the system, no matter his bloodline. Off he goes.

Arya? Same thought. Different path.
