'20 JUCO CB Art Green

Junior college defensive back Art Green has a simple rule: When it feels right, you run with it. After a weekend visited to Rocky Top, Orange felt right to Green and he’s now a Vol. “I am the type of guy when I feel something and know something, I just go with it,” Green said. “When Tennessee first offered, I kind of felt it. I knew the history of the program. I knew of their reputation as a coaching staff. I knew of the coaches when they were at other places and how many guys they have developed.”

At 6-2, 200-pounds, Green has plenty to work with. The St. Louis native will have three years to play two seasons and will enroll at Tennessee in January. “I loved the environment and how everything is run there,” Green said. “They treated my family as they were one of their own. They made all of us feel like a part of the program when we were there. “Going through the visit. All of my boxes were being checked. I’m not one of those guys who is going to wait to decide something if I know what I want to do. I’m not into building up things for drama.”

Coming out of high school in St. Louis, Green played safety and receiver. He committed to play receiver at Arkansas State but failed to qualify with a test score. Upon arriving at Hutchinson Community College, Green felt like defensive back was a better fit for him long term. “When I got to junior collage I told coaches at Hutch I wanted to play defense,” Green said. “At first they were happy about the idea, but they decided to move me there. They put me at safety first then moved me to corner because of my athleticism.

“Tennessee said outside corner is my priority but when I get the technique and everything down with their defense then they might move me around to their star or money position when they are playing extra defensive backs.” Green is thought by many to be one of the top two if not the top cornerbacks in the juco ranks thanks to his combination of size and speed. Green has been clocked at 10.7 in the 100 meters. And he created smiles in the Anderson Training Center when he told the Vol coaches he was coming. “Coach Ansley was super excited. Coach Pruitt was really happy,” Green said. Hutchinson Community College has been good to the Vols the last few years with guys like Cordarelle Patterson and Alvin Kamara.

Whats the story with ranking JUCOs?

Just noticed that the other JUCO corner we offered, Brian George, is ranked as the #2 overall JUCO player (behind our Jordan Davis).... but theres no ranking for this kid.

VQ podcast gets posted today. 7:42 minute mark.

Hubbs: Tennessee did have a junior college corner in this weekend. He's gonna take more visits and isn't close to doing anything.

Kid commits publicly an hour later after informing the staff of his decision before leaving yesterday.

$9.95

Lol. I love $9.95 jokes as much as “soon” ones.

Apparently a ton of JUCO ranking is done after the season, as opposed to regular high school recruits. So there will be a few guys that weren't even ranked who suddenly become a top-5 JUCO player nationally.

Look how he TURNS HIS HEAD to locate the football ❤️!!
That's because he's played WR and in his mind the ball is just as much his as anyone else's.

He didn't camp and get conditioned to getting roasted on iso routes on air where everyone is screaming "ooohh!! Awwww!" A trash drill....

This kid is from the outer St Louis area. Chesterfield Missouri. Ranked 31 player...in the state of Missouri. As a WR in 2018.

This is a very interesting recruiting ground that people sleep on. Belleville Illinois is also "St Louis" area, and this is where Adoree Jackson grew up before moving out to California in high school. Zeke Elliott is from St Louis. There are very athletic kids in that area that never get to participate in schoolastic sports because education is so bad there.

Don't confuse the education of St. Louis City with that of St. Louis County. County school districts are very good....City schools, not so much. The Parkway School District is an exceptional school district. Parkway Central is located in West county, which is a rather affluent part of St. Louis county. Great education. Parkway Central also has a history of good athletics, specifically football.

Zeke Elliot is a graduate of John Burroughs School, a top tier private school that feeds the ivy leagues.

3 years to play 2 is huge, IMO.

Anyone know if he's an EE?
Not targeted towards you at all because I see this said a ton, and this is nice if he gets injured, but:

I don’t think 3 years to play 2 is huge. If the dude needs a redshirt year as a JUCO then he is a bust.
