Good point except we did in fact miss on Cade. He’d be an entrenched starter here.
This is what I remember hearing at the time. Obviously, Cade had a good relationship with Butch's staff and if I remember correctly he decommitted because we fired Butch. I heard, from on here, so I don't know if it was true or not, that it was difficult for us to even get a visit with him after Pruitt came on board. Eventually, I got the idea from what I was reading that both Fulmer and Pruitt were granted an in home visit. The takeaway from that visit as I understood it was that it didn't go well so I got the idea we weren't kissing the kid's butt. That was what I gathered from what I read on here. I don't really have any better sources, at least none as reliable. jmo.
Edited to add: I was reading some comments from AtlantaVol in the Cooper thread some time ago and I’m not one to criticize AtlantaVol when things change from what he may be hearing at a given time. Everything about life is dynamic. Hell, sometimes we can’t even predict the weather with all that much accuracy; forget about human behavior. Anyway, the last I checked in on the Cooper thread, AtlantaVol suggested not only were we likely to get Cooper but that we would probably eventually get the other one too. I, and some others, maybe misreading, took that to suggest that Cade had had a change of heart and perhaps wanted to come home, maybe as a grad transfer with a couple years left to play or something. I could see how after he cooled down he might have a different assessment of why it was necessary for us to fire Jones. I haven’t really been back in that thread so this may all be completely in left field but, if not, I’m reasonably sure we’d welcome him back if any of this was the case. jmo.
