VN's very own political meme thread...

I'm just calling bs on the VA diagnosing a guy with lung cancer and telling him we'll see you in three months. There's a 100% chance that's not true. If they weren't able to handle the acute nature of the ailment they'd refer him to the private sector for immediate treatment.
That's what he told me. They said he had spots on his lungs....could be cancer..come.back in 3 months for our next available cat scan. I told him now is when you get a referral to annoutaide doc because if you have lung cancer you dont have much time. This is Atlanta VA. The VA is different all over. The more you know..

He should be asking for a second opinion and a referral to a spot-on-the-lung specialist.

Tool me 10 years to get the VA to farm me out for an MRI. I didnt want to pay out of pocket with my insurance. 10. Years.

I had advanced imaging done in about a week with the VA, about the same time I'd expect to get an appointment in the private sector.

Exactly what I told him. He was all ho hum about it and I'm like "Bro get a referral NOW dont wait". His experience at the Atlanta VA sounds like its a terrible place to go to.

I always was able to get an MRI the week I needed it. I went to a sports clinic in Orlando and got the MRI while waiting for my doctors appointment. I had an old battle wounded shoulder that the USAF misdiagnosed as a shoulder sprain which in fact it was a torn rotator cuff. The VA kept telling me "no its just a sprain" blah blah. I kept asking for an MRI and they kept denying it. I figured if I pestered them enough they would eventually cave and FINALLY agreed to a referral and BOOM within a week torn rotator cuff with 10 years of scar tissue found.

Now when I got out of the service the Nashville VA was Johnny on the Spot. Then move to Orlando and it was terrible until they built the new hospital then everything became quick. Im a little hesitant to visit the Atlanta one after hearing this dudes possible lung cancer story which oddly he loves to tell everyone. Tells anyone who will listen about his possible cancer, that his momma died from lung cancer, that he used to weight 450 pounds, and he once was arrested for rape but released...
