Basketball transfer nugget...someone posted a thread about this kid, redshirted as a freshman this year, played HS in Cleveland, TN. The coach that recruited him to ASU is apparently Serbian as well and no longer at ASU. And that coach was on Barnes staff as a grad assistant for 2 years. Rob Lewis replied to keep an eye on this one...

Uros Plavsic, Arizona State, Center (BK)

7 footer would be a nice addition

Hamilton Heights is in Chattanooga

I know I said it last week. And I know I probably said it not long before then either. But if I keep saying it, eventually I’ll be right.

We boom this weekend. I feel it in my bones....

I have no idea what's going on here but from what I read these clots generally form in the legs and end up in the lungs after first returning to the heart. The blood flows from the heart to lungs to pick up oxygen and then back to the heart to fan out through the rest of the body and then eventually returns to the heart to start all over again. The blood clots typically form due to prolonged periods of inactivity. I'm speculating obviously but the reason I think Trey can do all strength conditioning and lite contact drills is the activity is necessary for him. The reason he's restricted from full contact is I'm guessing he may be on thinners and any injury that might induce bleeding would be much more serious if clotting is being inhibited by medication.

I'm not aware of any cure, only of treatment and prevention and the biggest component of prevention seems to be activity. I read that most people who have what appears to be his condition don't even know it. Anyway, I think the reason that he had to quit last year is because they're monitoring him and when the clots come back he has to go back on thinners to break up the clots. I don't think it's a condition that can't be managed with close monitoring and treatment when necessary but I can't find anything that suggests there's a cure. I imagine the only inactivity he has is sitting in class or sleeping at night, stuff like that.

I'm led to believe that football is not causing his condition and in fact is probably good for him - except when he has to be on thinners. jmo.

He has a condition that predisposes him to blood clots. In this case, no other factors are needed to cause a clot.

Anti-coagulants are required to prevent recurrent clots in these situations. This medication is contra-indicated in contact sports. He runs a significant risk of dying without the medication.

If I were treating him, I would monitor him at least weekly for lower extremity clot formation. Probably I would want daily screens. It wouldn’t cost the University that much. Just 30-60 minutes of Trey’s time. He could study during the doppler test...

I would absolutely advise a venous filter. Won’t catch little clots, but will catch the killer large clots. So far he has just had small ones. One big one and you die. Very serious issue.

I'm sure the questions have already been answered and the media is just upset that they lose another chance publicly showboat.

Oh, and get clicks from the follow up stories with no new answers.
This. Wanted to find another way to twist an answer to have another negative story. One had an article yesterday about not having the "right" to get information from Tennessee. As if they have not already asked questions and been answered.

I skipped most of that too. I just scroll thru pages on VN most of the time. Don't read the drama and nonsense most of the time.

That was apparently my crime. I skim and post while waiting for various code compilations to complete, and got drawn into a discussion where apparently I didn't fully comprehend the central tenet of Bass's comments. That got me branded as not-too-bright and negative. In this particular case I was doing IC design, and yeah, I was probably dedicating more of my (apparently limited) brain capacity to my work than the discussion.
