Some, to varying degrees, but none that I know of approach Trump. Clearly process my last point, it's how he accesses the value of others that I find most repulsive.

I dont fault anyone for trying to not go to Vietnam. Having been through "the sh!t" myself (mostly overbooked hotel rooms in the Air Force with no free breakfast) I wouldn't wish that stuff on anyone. Its fun to play dress up, shoot big guns, fly helicopters and planes and what not but that first round whizzes by your face, or you see a head explode, or realize you got charged hotel tax, things just got real!

Some men aren’t built for war . I don’t hold grudges against men that don’t want to be in that position . I don’t hold them in high esteem for it but that’s something they themselves have to live with . I had a great teacher that set the bar extremely high ( my grandfather lied about his age to go into world war he was 17 ) and if he didn’t hold a grudge then who am I to say one way or another . He would be the first to tell you that if they don’t want to be there that bad , he wouldn’t want them there watching his back . With the exception of GB sr. I can’t think of a president in modern times I’d want watching over me while I tried to get an hours sleep in a combat zone .

Again, nothing wrong with a student deferment. Nothing wrong with a legitimate medical deferment.
If you also vocally/legitimately oppose the war, you are far more honorable in your deferment than if you vocally/genuinely support the war.
That's why I have the upmost respect for Muhammad Ali.
