He was fired over the phone and Al Davis is not going to honor what he owes Kiffen on his contract. Why would anyone coach for Al Davis?

I've watched the raiders play, as to CPF being closer to 3-1 ...ucla missed field goal, Iwatched the auburn game again last night, a number of opportunities to seize victory, missed and blown, that would have given the VOLS 2 more wins. The only game we were dominated was florida, and we were in the red zone at least three times with opportunities to score. Looking at those games (oaklands and UT's) I still think UT closer to 3-1 than Oakland. Just my opinion based on my observations. I don't have a dog in this fight either Kiffin or CPF...but it concerns me when coaches start talking "Ifs and buts" and I find it ironic some of us are willing to give Kiffin a bye on this when we are jumping all over CPF for the same type of "coach speak." Maybe Kiffin would be a great college coach but that can not, surely, be based on performance in nfl to date.:ermm:

I was arguing the same point. Can't evaluate him based on his stint with the Raiders. He was hamstrung and never allowed to be a coach. Fulmer has never had that problem.

I think the 76 yard FG attempt Sunday may have been the final straw.
I found that to be a stroke of genius. It was Lane's way of telling Davis, "Put me in an absurd situation, I'll be sure and do absurd things." This firing will turn out to be Mike Shanahan, Vol. 2, for Al Davis.

Al tried to avoid paying Shanahan. How'd that turn out for him?

There's no doubt about that. It was definitely done to embarrass Al Davis.

Gregg Doyel nailed it in an article about a week and a half ago. Al used to be a maverick worthy of admiration. His constant punking of Pete Rozelle and the suits in the league office was a thing of beauty. Sadly, he has now become what he hated. A megalomaniac exericising power just because he can. The funny thing is, the guy he's firing is a lot like Al Davis 45 years ago. Kudos to Lane for showing the Raider brass his middle finger Sunday.

Kiffin has never done anything in college or nfl. As OC at USC, Carroll and Sarkesian(sp) called the plays. Just because he coached at USC, does not make him great. He is not the answer.

According to Jim Rome Show, Al Davis fired Kiffin via telephone. LOL

What?? He couldn't just send him a text message?? LOL

Looking at Al Davis in the box on Sunday showed me he needs to be gone. He looks terrible, like a walking Zombie. Well not really walking, since he is in a wheelchair.

I hate to tell you but Saban sucked in Miami. Looks like he's doing pretty good now. #2 in the country after just 1 year. Just because you can't do well in the NFL doesn't mean you won't be successful in college. I think Kiffen is ready to be a HC just not in the NFL.

Pete Carroll sucked in the pros but you see what happened when he came back to college.

"At times we're playing as well as anybody in the league. I know that sounds strange for you guys to hear, but look at the numbers," Kiffin said in his news conference. "Look at the way we're playing in the first three quarters of the last three weeks in a row; we're playing good enough to be on a three-game winning streak. All that being said, we're 1-3."

ESPN - Source: Raiders owner Davis making moves to start process of replacing Kiffin - NFL

Sounds like a winner.

Have you watched the Raiders this year? He's spot in. Not his fault he's in charge of Al Davis' pile of crap and trying to turn it into something worth mentioning.

i like this guy better than most names i have seen as possible replacements because while being the OC in the "OC" he was also recruiting coordinator. and...maybe he could bring his pops as the D coach!!
