2020 Presidential Race

I don’t think so. Obama revitalized the economy and the extension of him - Hillary - didn’t get the benefit of it.

This is all going to come down to how the candidate makes the electorate “feel” and more recent polls have Trump trending down in that category - both in his own favorable ratings and when asked if the country is headed in the right direction.

The economy revitalized in spite of Obama not because of him. He was the biggest hindrance in the recovery.

I’m still waiting on the gloom , despair , hopelessness , and the falling apart to start . Let’s take a really short Q&A here ( I promise it will be short ) .. raise your hand if you’ve lost ANYTHING since Trump was elected .
Edit : quick side note .. economic growth surpassed expectations this year and is now 3.2 %
Having a proto-fascist at the helm is generally not a good thing. And it has been shown hundreds of times that is what he is. Yes, the economy is doing great (weird how no one on here praises the massive economic growth when my other boy Barack was sitting in the Oval, but now it is all the rage while forgetting about the record setting deficits Trump is gifting all of us.) I'll just start with calling for violence against the press and anyone that disagrees with him. Sharp rise in white nationalism, hate crimes, should we leave that off? Not too mention having an absolute scumbag like Pence lurking around the WH. There are many, many reasons to be gloomy, to despair, and to lose hope. It is hard to keep up with honestly. Aside from the economy growing well (don't you give Obama any credit for that for the prior six years, don't do it), Trump has been an embarrassment.

Here’s a question: do you all think it would be helpful or harmful ~politically~ for the House Democrats to impeach Trump? I’m asking specifically related to 2020.

That would completely rely on what they were impeaching him for. If they were to impeach over the Muells report they would be hurt.

IMO the Dems do not retain the house in 2020 regardless.

Harmful only because it would create the same trap in 2016 where the candidates don't go beyond Orange Man Bad.
I think the candidates have done a good job of staying away from it.

They should let the House do their job and commit to selling their vision for the presidency.

Are you getting around to answering the question I asked ? It’s not like you to ramble on like this . You went into the weeds lol

Eh, we’re going to disagree here. I happen to think more regulation is good. So, of course, the economy was slower to rebound, but it was much more stable with far more consumer protections.

I understand this is simply a philosophical debate - and neither side is technically wrong.

Wait until general election season.

Adding 600 billion dollars in regulatory burden is just too much.

There’s a fine line you have to walk between regulation and choking the economy down . More regulations means less growth .

You must be very young to have made the comment about LOTRs.
LOTR is timeless and ageless. Yeah, it drags a bit in the House of Tom Bombadil (not sure on the spelling for his last name), but those are some amazing novels (and movies too).

We are on the opposite ends of that philosophy.

What do you think NBC,CBS,ABC,CNN and MSNBC will say when President Trump wins a 2nd term as President and the Republicans regain control of the US House of Representatives? I think the Networks,CNN and MSNBC will be screaming about voter fraud and that Americans are racist and sexist. I think Morning Joe the morning after the November 2020 Election Joe and Mika along with their panel will be shocked and angry and call the people who voted for President Trump along with the Republican Party despicable people who have no morals. There will probably be a lot of funny videos on YouTube showing the total meltdown on NBC,ABC,CBS,CNN and MSNBC

1. Nobody thought it would be funny to burn the house down.
2. That is completely false.
3. Again completely false.

You guys are dooming yourselves to failure again unless you wake up and realize what really happened here. Republican primary voters were sick and tired of the same candidate by a different name running and absolutely sick to death of the Bush family so Trump was a breath of fresh air. Brash and didn't back down. So he won the nomination. You guys nominated the worst possible candidate to run in 2016, Hillary is the epitome of the Washington political elite and vast swaths of the country was not going to put up with that anymore. Not to mention she was so arrogant that she decided she didn't need to campaign in WI and MI. And now it appears you guys will take a hard swing left which will not play well in middle America.

Y'all can keep living in denial about what really happened and keep losing or wake up.
Stop blaming progressives for 2016. You guys voted in Trump, own it.

I’m not young and I agree with you , same with GOT . That stands to reason since GRRM was influenced heavily by LOTR

The Dim House has been in control for over 100 days and exactly what kinda legislation has been passed? All they’ve talked about is impeach forti fi.

Exactly what are they wanting to impeach him for?

To be fair you progressives didn’t show up to vote for Hills ( most thought she didn’t need the vote to win ) so by default helped Trump secure the win . 😊

If this is true then we can expect to see them addressing a room full of coal miners in West Virginia and answering their questions they have about their jobs . Just like Hillary did .
Is this preferable to being promised work by Trump and then losing your job? Coal is a downsizing industry. Regardless what Lord Red Hat spews after he watches Fox News for a bit.

Then we can expect them to hold that Q&A right ? We all know coal miners are the middle class working Americans .
