That's the picture I posted earlier-same angle, resolution and everything....you can even tell by the way the shadows fall that this is exactly the same as my picture.

Good job-you can click, save, and paste...now go find something original.

This post is incredibly stupid. Why even bother trying to pass a pic as your own when the first post is still on the first page of forum threads???? Stupid stupid stupid.

do you blame the student body for being upset? I mean you would think the university would want the student section to be full every game....they went from free to $15...a move that clearly shows this university is all about $

If they needed the 1.25+ million, they had to get it from somewhere. When recruiting players, shipping them around the country, equipment, etc costs more money, you have to get it from somewhere. More, be sure that there's a difference between the Athletics Department and the University. I guess, though we could keep our free tickets and the Athletic Department could stop giving the university those million or so dollars every year to go towards general scholarships.

This just makes me laugh. The athletic program would not even EXIST without the academic programs. Both athletes and scholars deserve the money. Yes, the athletic program needs enough money to function and function well, BUT that should not be at the expense of people's educations. The athletic department is PART of the University, not a separate entity. This is just ridiculous to even have to point out.

There are so many things UT needs more than an extra 90 bucks from its students from money they earn from making them pay for student tickets. We're behind in technology, the campus looks horrible, they're ticketing everyone like crazy just to earn a few more bucks, some dorms STILL don't have air conditioning, etc etc etc...students deserve the education they pay for FIRST, the athletic programs second. I love UT sports-more than most female students, but I'd never want to hurt my chances of getting a good education and having a successful future.

The tickets were never free, they just decided to charge us an extra $90 for them.

Wow this is just plain ignorant. Why would you put that on something on campus tearing down the morale of the rest of the players.

Well, unfortunately for your argument, our Athletic Department is totally separate from the university and receives no funds from UT or the State. Totally self-sufficient. It's a big business that puts money into UT, Knoxville, and the state.

The athletics department has no bearing on a/c in the dorms. None. No person's education is being lost because of athletics. Just the opposite. All that revenue the AD makes means that the state (i.e. taxpayers) don't have to financially support UT sports. On the other hand, UT sports provide a huge benefit to the school in the form of scholarships, and the state in the form of tax revenue.

pesky details. The UTAD is evil and keeps the students from using a/c so they can get black jerseys. Surely you can see this right?

I know...i'm sorry. All those facts getting in the way of emotion. I heard that Mike Hamilton is going to charge for bball tickets. Too late to add fees, so that's why they're cutting academic programs. We're gonna sell the Auditory and Speech bldg to pay for them.

No, not totally. Seriously, take a peek at the budget-I have. The campus provides more for the athletes than anyone else. While Andy Holt apartments are literally falling apart, Greeve Hall is equipped with the finest amenities-and yes, this comes out of the University's pocket. The meals they receive in their food court are of much higher quality than that the other students receive. Etc, etc, etc....They spend thousands of dollars on these athletes in addition to the money they raise themselves. The sports programs ARE indeed part of the University in that they would not exist (As I have already stated) without the foundation of the school (aka the academic programs).

As far as scholarships etc, there are many sources of funding that the University uses. Check it out, you may be surprised just how much of it doesn't come from the AD.

As for all the good the program does for Knoxville, I've never denied the revenue it has brought to the city...but it's obvious that the city is still a dump. Also, I didn't say that it WAS depriving students of education..I said it shouldn't. Big difference.
