I'm not trying to argue and I'm sure you're right but if you follow the clock on the screen the play lasts at most 1.5 seconds. I mean we've got the slowest least athletic guys on the field playing offensive line and we think they're agile enough to accomplish 2 assignments in under 2 seconds. I'm just saying I don't think the kid's brain can work that fast, let alone his feet. If you're right then I'm not sure we wouldn't be better served with a more straight forward blocking scheme. jmo.

In truth, I still think it was a bad call but I could be wrong. I never played offensive line. I've read about it, but I was a receiver and defensive back so I really never paid attention to what those guys in the trench were doing. I do however remember all the double team blocking drills Fingers posted in his spring practice reports. We've obviously got that down now. Maybe in fall camp we add in some advanced drills so we learn how to do what you are suggesting. I'm still not sure about the speed thing though. I don't think we're going to get that much faster in 4 months. jmo
For me, the question is why did the center need to help the RG? The play is designed to go between the RG and RT, so why does the center need to help the RG? IMO, the center should have immediately gone to the 2nd level to reach the LB, which he would have met Crouch on the blitz. If the RG can’t wall off the DT so he can’t be in on the play, then we have big problems. That’s not a difficult block.

I don't disagree with you but think it's funny that everyone says he needs to get rid of the ball faster and when he does, now we say he should have waited to throw.
I take it play by play.
If there's pressure, get the ball out.
If this line actually pulls off a clean pocket, would love to take advantage. Just a judgment call that you need your QB to make. And correctly more often than not.

In case you haven't heard, Jesus is alive!

I pray for those over in Sri Lanka as they go through this tough time. Those that are with the Lord now are in a much better place, and for all of the others I pray for God's peace and limitless love on them. That if they do not have a relationship with Christ that they come to have one. If they do then I pray they hold steadfast in Him and as their Rock and comfort.
Amen!

We had great offensive lines back then but the defenses we played compensated. Below are examples of what you need when you don't have much time to throw. Please watch without bias and give a real assessment of how much time the OL gave and the difference in results. This is what we need until the line improves.
Just a few examples, there's a ton more.

Baseball games and the seasons are too long.

Cut the game to 7 innings and if tied after 7, extra innings only to the 9th and count it as a tie after 9 innings.

Shorten the season to 100 games and add 2 additional wild card berths in each division.

Makes the regular season games more meaningful and keeps more teams in the playoff race longer. More fan interest.

Would definitely improve it but will never happen. Clubs don't want to lose game revenue, tv money, etc.

And the old guys who like to sit around and debate meaningless player stats would collectively have a heart attack. It would be like euthanizing an entire generation.

Prayers for you my friend. I pray it’s nothing.

Now, because laughter brings healing, I offer you this:

Because I comb through quickly when it comes to VN sometimes (especially off season), I read that you had a “lesbian on your chest”. I didn’t see what the big deal was at first.
Lol

What did JG do to you lol? Your hate for him is just sad at this point

Hate?

Because i said we need to improve on throwing the ball downfield? Especially when the bulk of route concepts Chaney runs are downfield. Didn’t know that was hate.

I guess i hate our RBs too since i said they couldn’t pass block. Oh and i hate our ILB since they can’t cover anybody too.

Don't act like you don't take every opportunity to s**t on JG. And when there isn't an opportunity you create one.

It does seem personal at this point.

Lol no it’s only personal when people take it that way.

I say Tim Jordan sucks no one misses a beat. I saw bituli can’t cover a sloth, no one says anything. Hell bass put up a whole list of players that i said played really bad football lol

That’s per attempt....i never said we didn’t try to throw it deep. What’s his air yardage per completion? And completion % on throws traveling over 20 yards for instance.
I noticed you never acknowledged this post because it proved yer point wrong. I guess you must have missed it so I quoted it for ya.

Do you guys think JG threw the ball to the receiver in the best position here? I mean the defense early on keys on Palmer, perhaps because they know JG is going for the safe option, meanwhile DWA in about 0.5 seconds comes wide open well behind the already committed secondary. I think if he gets the ball to DWA and if DWA will keep his ass in bounds then he's going a long ways down the field. I like JG. Obviously, he's a tough kid but I don't think he's very aggressive at trying to make plays. I think both younger guys are probably more aggressive. I think we need to be aggressive if we're going to score some points. On this play he had good protection. Anyway, jmo.

Lol I’ve seen the whole charted season and watched the whole season. If you think we scared teams throwing the ball down the field idk what to tell you. Everyone brings up auburn but how many of those were 50/50 balls at best that is more a credit to the WR?

It’s also leaving out 4 pretty pivotal weeks lol. I guess the candy game didn’t count.

Hate as in you’re a hater. JG improved last year. Led the team to a couple nice wins. Had some bad losses but overall he got better. It was just his second year playing. Not everyone is Jake fromm. Hell dobbs took two years too.

You rarely (possibly never) give him any props and your criticisms almost always lack context. Like your charting of passes against SC. Who cares? That’s obviously what the game plan was and he ran it well. That’s all you can ask a QB to do.

Plus I respect the hell out of JG for the abuse he has taken. Some of the hits are his fault obviously but that guy is one of the toughest SOBs I’ve ever seen. Always gets right back up and his team mates seems to like him a lot. I can’t wait to see what he looks like with a competent OC

Lol how am i hater? Like i said i can critique countless other players on our team and no one bats an eye. How come you didn’t come to the defense of bituli when I’ve been saying he can’t cover? Or what about Tim Jordan?

The South Carolina game was a problem because they played soft shell coverage the entire game until the 4th quarter. When they decided to sit underneath our offense couldn’t do anything. Vanderbilt played a lot of the same coverages against us that South Carolina did and it worked. So no I’m not going to apologize for including downfield passing in areas we need to improve in lol

Predictable response. Discount the first 8 games that don't fit yer narrative and only count the few that do without including any context of the ol depth breakdown and the gameplan to account for that limiting opportunities for success in downfield passing. You sir are a pillar of objectivity.

Half your posts seem to center around shots at JG whereas the bituli and Jordan criticisms are far less frequent.

We scored 24 going into the fourth on the road in a tough stadium that was having its first night game of the season. Can’t ask for much more IMO. Defense let the offense down that game. Refs were trash too
