I actually don’t want Kimbrel cause of the forfeited signing pool on the draft pick but we gotta start making bullpen moves

I know that Coppy killed us with the loss of signing pool money, but I think we need to be careful not to overvalue that. This team is in position to win now, and the only glaring issue is the pen. Kimbrel is one guy, but adding him for the 9th automatically makes the pen more stable because it moves everybody else back an inning. It's even more necessary now with Viz done.

I want Kimbrel, but it can't be just Kimbrel. We need he and at least one other guy imo. We need major help. There is nobody in that pen right now that I trust.

We have two first round picks, one being top 10. I’d imagine we won’t be picking top 10 for a long time, so this one needs to count. If you’re losing over a million in pool money, that’s a pretty big deal in this circumstance.

The loss of Viz definitely made it more complicated and a much harder problem to solve. If Viz got healthy, you could go Minter, Viz, Kimbrel for 7, 8, 9 which is at least serviceable.

But you are correct - none of these guys right now are any good. Minter and Viz only look like solid options when compared to the rest of the bullpen. Take a look at their numbers last year - for back end of the bullpen guys, they were fairly hittable and walked too many guys as well. Minter had nearly a 1.3 WHIP, for crying out loud. Viz's was almost 1.2.

If we signed Kimbrel, we'd lose a 2nd rounder and signing pool money, right?

I'm about to the point to say that we just need to throw Bryse, Touki, and Wright in the pen and stick with the rotation of Folty, Gaus, Julio, Soroka, and Fried if we aren't going to add any arms. They have to do something.
