I think we all saw Butch and said 2016 should be his breakout year. For Pruitt it will be more challenging because the SEC East doesnt suck like it did back then. I think his year is 2021 *IF* he can put together 2 more top 10 classes. We won't have the talent of Georgia, and Bama BUT...

Bailey/Maurer should have experience. The OL and DL will be rebuilt. We will have quality depth. We play South Alabama, Bowling Green, and Pitt. Our SEC W opponent is Ole Miss at home. Georgia is at home. That is 9+ wins.

If Tennessee used Bamas system to the fullest, Tennessee could claim quite a few more than 6. Really about 4 of ours are legit, only 1 if UGAs is.
According to this essentially bipartisan count from SB nation, we have 3 and UGA has 2. THE definitive national champ for each season, 1869-2018

I am okay with the 3 for us because in the other 3 we lost our bowl games. UGA's 2 claimed are legit and they don't claim one year where they were unbeaten and untied but unlucky to do it at the same time ND and Army had their "teams of the century" and tied each other. We still have a better history overall, but I agree with secking, their history is comparable.

Now if you want to talk about someone with no history, South Carolina has no history. They hang a banner in their stadium for Steve Spurrier's 86 wins as their coach, the ultimate highlight on their radio show is that one time they won the Eastern division, and they had never won a bowl game until like 1994.

I mean... you go back far enough... Princeton, Yale, Army, and Minnesota had remarkable claims to numbers of NCAA national titles...

But.... Living in the past beyond the last 17-19 years is a dumb concept... THAT is the lifespan of a recruit... none of these kids were even born better yet old enough to care about football when we beat Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl for the championship... so yes, keep it grounded a bit about the "storied history" of football programs... the QB that should-have-been is already retired after 18 seasons in the NFL and the QB that was played a total of about a half a game in the NFL (and is also currently on our coaching staff)

What you CAN sell though:

1) Playing time
2) Facilities
3) Top 5 coaching staff in the nation
4) Academics/support for such
5) Down south home cooking (HELLO linemen)
6) Geography and placement
7) Program investment
8) Gameplans for improvement
etc...

You sell things that are real, tangible, that kids can reach out and touch... you show them "Listen, I'm not the used car salesman you're used to dealing with... this is what we need, this is how we'd like to use you... if you come in and follow the program, do what we ask, and listen.... this is where/when I could see you being viable for a starting position in SEC D1 play"

We'll see how it goes... I like hearing from every recruit that our coaches are "the realest they've met"... I'd rather be honest than FOS and deal with the attrition Georgia does

And GREAT, loyal fans.
We do have a lot of great, loyal fans... but I've been to enough games that we were getting stomped by Florida/Georgia/Alabama/Vanderbuilt , etc that if a recruit was at that game and saw everybody funneling out in the back half of the 3rd quarter... I understand that they wouldn't see that

Such as the offense UGA has used to be in CFP past two years? Seems to work fine. Harbaughs michigan offense was more basic than Chaney’s. Chaney can spread you out or pound you. Hatbaugh was like the Helton run two times play action pass

UGA wasn't in the playoffs and got whipped by Texas last year...the other 7 of the last 8 playoff teams played spread with tempo...

Yup I originally thought 2020, but the more I see how we lack elite dl and aged OL talent, I'm angling towards '21. We are in quite the hole ATM. Thanks Obama.

Dear lord..they got Tiger at 8-1 to win at Bethpage..SMH 😳 Look...I'm as big a Tiger fan as there is, but come freakin on..
Not saying he can't do it, but it just isn't likely. That has got Koepka or DJ written all over it. I think he has a better shot at Pebble and Portrush, he can grind a win out at those courses.

It feels so weird that the PGA championship is right around the corner.

Spring report card:

QB - B
RB - B+
WR - A
TE - C+
OL - C+

DL - B-
OLB - C+
ILB - B
DB - B+

ST - C+

A bit surprised by the low rating at OL and higher rating at DL. Luckily both have infusions of talent this Summer.

Yeah the trenches... yikes! Also we play at Oklahoma next year 😐

Daggum Oklahoma. But luckily they will be a mystery at QB. Maybe we luck out and they finally strike out at QB and the coach goes to the NFL. Or he stays and gets a Heisman transfer. It will be one or the other...

Now that spring practice is over I’m announcing today that I am placing my name in the social media transfer portal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on VolNation and learned a lot and I can’t thank the wonderful people here enough for their support over the past 8 years. While I have visited SEC Rant, College Football on Reddit, Facebook, and VolTwitter, I have not decided which, if any of those, will be my new home in the future. I can rule out VolQuest and 247Sports as neither of those run a system that I fell like caters to my skill set. They both charge people money and I see that as God’s way of telling me not to go there. Also, while I am exploring my options, VolNation remains a top contender to remain as my home in the future. I just want to be sure I have explored all my options and made the best decision for myself and my family. I ask everyone to respect my decision. #GBO #VFL
