He said what he said. Imo, the only reason anyone in here has a different viewpoint is because we’re vol fans and we have strong loyalty to coaches. Just a fact. That’s why I pointed out what the KY fans were saying. They aren’t mocking us, they’re saying the truth that Barnes was incredibly dumb in what he said today.

How many times have you posted #bbb before you read the transcript today? We all have our biases and we all try to find stuff that supports them.

Yeah, pretty much exactly the same. Glad we have a good coach, win games, stop saying stupid stuff.

The funny part about the debate.-
Bass is ticked because Barnes said something that could be taken negatively against UT - Bass loves UT.

Others are defending Barnes because of what he's done for basketball at UT.. and they love UT.

This is the biggest thing people seem to be missing. We almost always lost these between Dickie and Fulmer. It appears we're finally have an AD again who knows a little something about hiring and keeping good coaches.

To play DA again - he has simply been throwing large sums at people. We'll see how that works long term. I will say, I don't think many UT DAs would have shelled out 4.7m for Barnes, 1.5m for retread Chaney, 1.2m for Helton, 1m for a 1st time dc. He is either "doing it all wrong" or proving you have to spend money to make money (wins, more importantly, in this case). But don't be mistaken that overpaying is anything but overpaying. Won't get an employee to work any better (spending money, by default, does not buy you any additional wins).

Just pointing out how he has been different. It's not that he's negotiating amazing deals and convincing coaches to come here on a bargain. We are currently paying OUT THE ARSE for a lot of these guys.

I hope to god it works and he proves the AD establishment (budget cutters) wrong. But...if it doesn't, we could be in deep shiz 10 years down the road. That is the financial reality.

50/50 for me. He maxed out in '15, '16. His style is that of a successful G5, doesn't cut it here.

Gave us some good-- you listed it (I'd add Barnett, and maybe Nike, but an ambassador like Dobbs is the best it can get)

Obviously will be remembered and rightfully so for being the ultimate failure, laughing stock, and later, a cheap traitor (as if we wanted him on our sideline as he left Neyland smoking a TSIO cigar like he deserved it)

I didnt name barnett b/c people on here dont give him credit for UT's all-time sack leader. Atleast he saved (due to incompetence) kamara from being all used up (carries & usuage rate) in college so he was fresh to ball out for the Saints.

Shoop was. They didn't let him hire the assistants they wanted.

And just shelling out the money doesn't guarantee anything, hence the unrealized results.

This is the most ridiculous position I have seen in a while. I type my words out because it’s the medium we have. How many times have words been misconstrued on here? Barnes spoke at a PC. Not saying his words are any different in this case, but it’s totally different when determining a context. Keep doing your thing though.
