Just for fun, I was messing around with the class calculator..

Already committed:
4* QB Harrison Bailey .9579
4* DT Dominic Bailey .9197
4* DE JUCO Jordan Davis .9100
3* RB Ebony Jackson .8678
3* CB/WR/KR Jimmy Calloway .8556
2* LS Will Albright .7532

Near Vol Lock:
5* DT/OG Justin Rogers .9901
4* DE Jay Hardy .9643
4* S Keshawn Lawrence .9525
4* DE Tyler Baron .9389

Vols are a finalist:
5* WR Rakim Jarrett .9933
4* OT Tate Ratledge .9793
4* DL Jacolbe Cowan .9465
4* WR Kris Abrams-Draine .8923
3* OC Cooper Mays .8889

Vols in good shape early:
5* TE Darnell Washington .9930
4* DT/OL Omari Thomas .9591
4* WR EJ Williams .9535
4* OG Chris Morris .9424

There are still a lot of dominoes to fall with it being so early in the cycle. I could imagine landing at least 75% of those listed above that aren't already committed. For reference landing ALL of the above players (somewhere between foreseeable and a pipe dream sure, but again as a reference...) would net us a 247 class score of 288.73 with 19 commitments. That's a 3rd ranked class based on the 2019 final rankings with 6 spots open.

Taking away Darnell Washington, EJ Williams, Tate Ratledge, Cooper Mays, Jacolbe Cowan, and Chris Morris (not to jinx us, just looking at it more pessimistically/conservatively), it's still a disgusting class with 2 5*s and 9 4*s with 14 total commitments. A 233.25 class score with 13 spots filled which would still be 25th in the country based on the final 2019 rankings. WITH 12 SPOTS OPEN (theoretically, based on a 25 man class). And DL is going to be a sick haul regardless. It is a scary proposition missing out on those OL at the top of our board, but this is kind of a worst-case scenario, at least along the trenches.

It's obviously all about momentum, but this is what I see as the upper limit and the lower limit to this class. Falling somewhere in between would still help build super competitive depth with more workable talent than either of the top-7, 30-men classes that Butch brought in (remember, both of those classes had significant attrition as well).

TL;DR I'm dicking around with the class calculator and we should all still feel very happy about the state of our recruiting and trajectory of the program.

Had a feeling Friday that he would win it! After the first few holes I was starting to think that there was no phasing Malinari but it finally got to him. Just an epic moment in sports history! Its crazy to think that as a kid, I watched him dominate and it was awesome! But to see him go through all that he has, ups, downs and injuries, it gives me a whole new appreciation for greatness in all sports!
A lot of what he has gone through as you said was brought on by his lack of morals.

I could see him winning a couple more

It is a lot harder to maintain consistency as you get older. It is not hard to be great one day, but he has to be consistent for 4 days. He should have made sure he got those when he was younger.

Having said all that, I wouldn't bet against him.

It’s hard for the younger guys to be consistent 4 days.
