I was kinda envisioning a similar story for us. Going from being shockingly upset by Loyola Chicago before the S16 last year to having Sister Jean cheer us on to a buzzerbeater W in the championship game a year later. It was a nice dream.

Lol I love this fanbase. From thrilled we kept Barnes which is a big deal to he better hang banners or else in literally 90 seconds. I love it.

This is great news. This would have been the absolute worst year to lose Barnes.

Also Phil likely ate some crow to Rick for the little things that pissed Barnes off. Then when Barnes was all but gone, we made things right enough for him to stay. We committed to basketball and I hope we never decommit.

Generally, I think this was much more about staff salary than anything else. It was poorly played, to let it get this far and public, but maybe that's what he had to do to get what he wanted in the end.

Sure, extra coin in his pocket is nice, but it probably wasn't the main thing for him. Very messy, but in the end, Fulmer keeps his man, and we keep a proven coach who is building well, and unlikely to bail in the future.

I find it hard to lose respect for someone who only talked to someone who offered him a new job and a bunch of money. CRB did not create drama - the media and fans created the drama.
Anyone here who says they would not at least talk with someone else if they approached you with a new job with much more pay is not being truthful.
And if my best worker came to me and told me they had new job offer, I would do my best to keep them. That is what Fulmer did.

Buzz Williams talked to Texas A&M and you hardly heard a peep till it was done. Same thing with coach at Buffalo and I could go on and on.

If he hangs banners yes. If we have a good basketball team 20k+ will be common in TBA. Add to that merch, advertising and concessions, yes, it beats getting an up and comer and starting over again

For some reason I thought UVA was pretty good at basketball historically. But they really don't have much success in their past. It's pretty much all Tony Bennett.

$4.7 Mil is behind only coach Cal and Coach K. Third highest paid coach in the NCAA.

Personally don’t think he’s worth that, but it’s more expensive to hire away a better coach, and risky to take a lesser known.

Ultimately, we kept the known commodity, paid over sticker price, but it was the right decision. I hate doing business that way, living a bargain, but it’s the right move here.

We keep our Strength and Conditioning Coach, we hire a top of the line OC, we keep Coach Barnes, we announce Kelly Jolly Harper tomorrow (if rumors are true). No, I don't think Fulmer is in over his head.

Maybe Barnes will do a commitment video like the recruits and he'll have the UT and UCLA hats on the table. He'll pick up the UCLA hat and act like he's going to put it on and then he abruptly tosses it across the room and grabs the UT hat and places it on his head and screams "Vols Biotch!"

Given Barnes' personality, I would pay good money to see that!
