Poster on VQ that isnt known for trolling.

My stepfather has a few connections at UT, and he told me that he received some texts saying that CRB has decided to stay and that his assistant salary pool will get a large increase. He also said that UCLA will not announce that Barnes turned them down and will pursue Chris Beard directly after the National Championship Game.

I can't speak to the validity of this information but thought I'd pass along.

That makes sense.... there was some info about UCLA wanting to drop the buyout and wanting to give Barnes some incentives or bonus vamping up his contract... but UCLA not wanting to do both... I get the leverage pull by Fulmer then... it makes a lot less sense to let him walk and not get that buyout...

They weren't going to announce the LV hire until later this week to kick off All Vol Weekend. Not sure that deal is officially done. I'd be surprised if UT confirmed it.

Don't mean to back you into a corner and please do not respond if you'd rather but, if you're an alum of both UT and UCLA, do you favor one over the other?

Well, sure, UT is #1 with me and it's not even close. I enjoy UCLA sports and events when I can, but when people ask where I went to school, I automatically say UT. I do hate SC, though. I mean, intensely.

Just heard Barnes is staying... all a power move to get more for his assistants. I also heard Fulmer asked around about Pearl and some other coaches and didn’t hear anything that made him think anything was promising... Fulmer then doubled down on Barnes... not sure there will be an announcement today maybe something small and something bigger for this weekend... also expect them to throw some sort of appreciation thing for Barnes and staff... Barnes was at one point seriously leaning toward UCLA but in the end this team and town won him over and of course the support... also told his assistants will be paid well. Barnes is here until he retires. Or we let him go.
