Hot Take: If Coach Barnes takes the UCLA job, he regrets it in 3 years.
I could definitely see him getting Texas’d again within 4-5 years if he doesn’t deliver big time.

Would we all have been as happy with him as we have been if he’d been getting paid $5 mill+ on top of a $5 million buyout and $1 million+ for assistants? I doubt it.

I'd forgotten about it, but there are similarities in the two situations. Bruce was frosted about the salary differences between BB and FB and felt his assistants were being undervalued. Kiffin had gotten UT to pony up big salary increases for his assistants, and Bruce was mad about the disparity. He called out Hammy for paying several of Kiffin's assistants more than the entire BB staff. Similarly, Barnes was frosted that UT paid huge sums for Chaney and Ansley, while barely raising the salary pool for his entire staff. Barnes didn't forget that, and I'm sure Fulmer won't forget this, either.
They do understand that football is king most anywhere you go in America. We put 100kish people in the stadium every Saturday but basketball only 20kish they have more games but football tickets cost twice as much.

Why can they not understand they are a distant 2nd in revenue and should be paid accordingly?

"judge" is a strong word to use for pointing out that a life without any purpose or meaning is sad. Its not judgment, its just reality.
Must have misread my post. I said with no inherent meaning. It’s up to ourselves, hopefully with the help of those around us, to find meaning and purpose.

The thing about UT getting closer to $5M is that UCLA can turn around and offer $5.5M. And that's just the base. Add in perks and escalators and the package could top $6M. Barnes is going to have to decide where he wants to be. The shine is going to be off at UT, no matter what.

Even if he fails. He’s making big money and living at the beach they are also probably paying him a huge buy out.
And let’s be honest: he could stick around here and end up being let go 3-4 years from now if he doesn’t earn any titles or do more in tournaments.

Probably just comes down to how he wants to go out and how much he wants for it. We should know shortly.

Interesting to me, the BasketVols are very vocal on twitter when anything is mentioned concerning the team, especially Grant and Admiral. Been crickets--- very quiet since this news broke.. Wonder what they are thinking..
how much am I gonna make here in the next few months

Yep, and what he has to factor in now is 1) what percentage of the fanbase is going to hold this against him and 2) how is his relationship with the boss going forward now that he’s held him hostage?

seriously, if it comes to this, let him go. VOLS fans have had enough of this kind of crap to last a lifetime.

I think he's a stopgap at UCLA, anyway. Put in a foundation, get the program back on track, retire in 3-4 years and UCLA could have a transition plan in place-- that could work out for both parties.
