Gotta admit, sucks a little that I thought Texas showed a pathetic lack of loyalty to Rick Barnes.
Just for us to not care about age or the lack of trophies, rush to hire him and make him family in every way possible.

Sorry if the SEC being football centric is "surprising".

how are you doing? I haven't been very active lately and have missed anything recent with you. Hope all is getting to a better place.

Let me be clear that I have not heard this from 'the horse's mouth' yet but in effort to keep people abreast of rumors that are out there it sounds like this thing is trending towards Rick staying put.

Trying to get confirmation, and again, let me stress that this is not from a solid gold source or anything of that nature, but that's the way the wind seems to be blowing here at 12:49 p.m.

I'm definitely not comfortable saying it's a done deal, but just in an effort to keep you all abreast of what I'm hearing that is the latest buzz.

Again, I'm not reporting that it's finished by any means, just passing along the scuttlebutt that I'm picking up.
Rob Lewis

Won’t happen. He is divorced and kids live in Texas. They will probably pay him a lot to stay.
they already have. iirc, he's in that $3m neighborhood, and in Lubbock, TX , that's probably like $10. and he's got a $12M buyout.

he aint' coming here.

The fact that Atlanta Vol liked this post is kinda scary
I think there is a difference between "not caring about the other sports" and "making football the priority every time". I enjoy watching men's hoops......I enjoy watching Vols Baseball....but football will always be the priority and I would be willing to bet that is the same for the majority. JMO

Matt McMahon or Steve Forbes for me and I’m fine.

Could see Brad Brownell getting an interview too.

I'm cautious of McMahon...since his best two seasons he had Morant grant he was smart enough to offer him and get him on campus. But it's always scary to see a coach do well with a lottery pick makes you wonder how much was the player and how much was the coach.

Forbes I like a lot and he was here during the Pearl era so he's got deep ties. I think Pearl could get a call, I mean why not? He did take us to our only Elite Eight, just beat us in 3 straight games to win back to back SEC titles (one in regular season and then this year's tournament championship) and took Auburn WITH a major injury to the Final Four. Plus he only makes 2.6 at Auburn

I'll respond shortly in the off topic forum. Everyone here has been great but don't want to derail when there's actual stuff happening. Everyone has already been really patient and I really respect that.

And thank you for asking!

I use to feel that way, but after this year, I loved our BasketVOL team as much as any football team we have had.

That’s hogwash. They get some credit sure as does any coaching staff but that’s severely under cutting these guys. It’s like saying Ja Morant wouldn’t be a top prospect without Murray state. All guys like that need is a stage and they will perform. Do the staffs help them? sure. But grant, scho, and bone would be very good players virtually anywhere they would’ve/could’ve went.

Williams and Schofield are marginal prospects, and Bone has had to come a long way to get to this point. So, I will have to disagree with you this time. I think Barnes and Co. have maximized all 3's talent in a way that most coaching staffs would not have.

Would they have become good players without Barnes? Yes. That's not the same as looking at making a lot of money without having to go overseas.

Hopefully my post didn't sound like I didn't absolutely love our team this year. Its just that if UT basketball and UT football were hanging off a cliff and I could only save one.................................then I'm sorry basketvols lol

The timing is definitely unfortunate. First, the LVs drama, then this, right when Pruitt wants all the focus on FB for a big recruiting weekend. They're already concerned the turnout won't be what Pruitt wants.
Well for one if his team wouldn't have s*** the bed last year against SCar, Mizzou, and Vandy.....and gotten to a bowl game....then he wouldn't have to worry about the crowd.

Yeah this is me...from a "fan" standpoint it's also easier to find tickets to one of 18 home games indoors than it is to lineup a seat for Neyland.

I'm without a doubt football centered in my fandom, but boy when the BasketVOLs are good I don't miss games.
