Not to be a dick... but I said "visit there again" indicating that I have. Several times. Once to visit and another for work. Also been to San Diego for work.

LA is not my cup of tea. I was out there a few years ago and was with a native and I was complaining about the congestion and the time it took to go from point a to b and just literally all the people. He pointed out that he loved it and on Easter that his family would go snow skiing in the morning and surfing in the afternoon. Very few places you could do that. I don't think you could pay me enough money to live there but everyone is different.

I like Malibu, Santa Monica, and Mulholland/Hollywood Hills area of LA. The rest of the city just reminds me of a sprawling strip mall metropolis.

Sunset Strip is cool too for the novelty/history factor.

Santa Monica area is where we stayed, mostly but did the obligatory tourist stuff.

santa monica has blown up so much, its weird. fun if you live near the boardwalk though. but definitely nothing special as far as la goes. the beach towns along south beach - hollister beach - is where its at imo.

#1 best part of la though are the comedy clubs. once went to see a couple guys, decently well known. the next thing we knew there was judd apatow going up on stage for like 30 mins as a surprise...after that we are 3 sheets to the wind and about ready to leave...then dane cook suddenly appeared (back when he was all the rage). Absolutely great show. Big time comedy and music can be had any night of the week there id go broke if i lived there.

Is it possible to love TN and TN football, but be kind of lukewarm about TN basketball? Is that possible?

It's probably just my experience as a Memphis-born/raised transfer student, but I'm cool with Tennessee dominating Football in the state and having good (NCAAT 2 out of three years, no higher expectations than that outside of not getting swept by UF, UK, and Vandy) basketball. I'm cool with Memphis dominating the basketball scene (it's better for the city than a good/great FB team) and being 7-5/8-4 in football every year.

Food fort the thought...even if you fill TBA and get 22k -every- home game, with 18 home games this past season that equals 396k

Basically 4 home games in football. And when you factor in the price per ticket for football on average is nearly double a face value Basketball ticket it's obvious that UT is driven by the football program.

No, I think they are going extinct anyway. Now if any of you boys have kings blood that's the perfect sacrifice. We will end up with Krzyzewski as our coach or somebody like that. I found out through that Ancestry DNA thing that I'm related to the Plantagenet kings. I'm a big Tennessee fan but being burned alive is not my idea of taking one for the team.

so you are selfish?! Not a team player IMO.

Barnes is a great coach, not goat, but great.

Pearl and Barnes have shown empirical, irrefutable evidence that Tennessee is a top tier basketball program. Thompson Boling and facilities are top notch.

We can hire a good coach. If we lose him, wo be it. I'd love nothing more than to see him retire here, would be special. But it aint end of world.
Yea you just can't get to attached too coaches theses days. They are human and are going to do what they think is best for them. They also have big egos, and like most of us crave power.

Think Matt McMahon would be a possible replacement candidate? From Oak Ridge, worked at UT during the Green/Buzz era as GA. 87-42 at Murray State and has had 2 great seasons back to back winning the OVC regular season & conference championship and 2 NCAA bids.

I love what Fuente and Norvell have done to the football program for sure, but we know we'll always be little brothers and an afterthought in SEC country. Plus the FB season is a quick 3 months. Get basketball going good again, and it's more games for at least a month longer.
