NCAA Women’s Tournament Thread

Major congrats to Kellie and her team. They had their chances to actually achieve the upset...which hardly anyone believed they could do.

Gitzen, Calip, and Franklin are players. Willard had a terrible shooting game, but Stanford had a lot to do with that.

MoSt returns everybody except Gitzen.

The Stanford - Mo St game is the kind of "big game" that gives women's basketball a bad name. A casual fan who tuned in because they were intrigued by the hot 11-seed coming on to play the 2-seed was treated to a horrendous performance by both teams. And might pass on watching another women's game for quite a while. Let's be honest, this wasn't a defensive struggle. This was two teams that simply couldn't find the basket -- often from within five feet. Both teams shot 25% from the field -- 10% from 3-point range.

Sure, some of the men's games can be ugly. But you won't find one where a top seed shoots 25% -- and wins!

MSST imo has no chance against Baylor, unless they can get Brown and Cox in foul trouble. And I think it's more likely that McCowan and Howard get in foul trouble first. The fact that Holmes/Danberry aren't outside shooters will doom them.

Baylor is basically MSU with 2 McCowans instead of 1...
From last week's game vs Cal:

I've seen some criticism of the ESPN coverage, and especially the split screen "personality packages" of Mulkey's closet, Kalani's puppy, and Caldwell's analysis of Duke. I don't care if they do that stuff, but the problem is they cut into game coverage; it would be ok if they did it during a timeout. Here's other frustrations and things they missed:
a. In 1st half, Anigwe shot the ball from the elbow, and Kalani failed to block her out. It was a terrible mental lapse, and Anigwe charged freely into the rebound scrum. Cal earned the ball after it deflected off one of our players. Mulkey had a hilarious meltdown yelling at Kalani, and they even showed a replay which highlighted her mental lapse, but Pam Ward and Carolyn Peck both talked about Anigwe's effort and missed the real story on the play, which was Kalani's fundamental lapse.
b. In 1st half, Chloe made an entry pass to Lauren on the post. The Cal defender blatantly hooked Lauren's left arm to prevent her from making the catch, and the ball went straight out of bounds. Ward and Peck missed the uncalled foul, and framed it as a bad pass.
c. Several times during the game, we had Freshmen on the floor who competed toe to toe with All American Kristine Anigwe. NaLyssa, Queen, and Aquira all were competing evenly with Anigwe, and they even outrebounded the top rebounder in the nation. That production from our Freshmen was a story worth highlighting, but they missed it.
d. They cut away when Kalani and Chloe were removed from the game and received an emotional standing ovation from the crowd in their last home game ever at Ferrell. If ESPN wanted to create emotional moments, that one was far more compelling that Mulkey's closet or Kalani's puppy, but we missed it.

Na'Lyssa scored 13 pts and had 8 boards in only 11 minutes of play.

Damn, too much green in the Oregon-MS game.

Would be a good side story if hunter from MS played uconn in the final

Anriel is having one helluva game so far. Big T is keeping the paint clear. 2 blocks.
Ducks are staying within reach.

I like how the Oregon staff is dressed the same with black pants, green shirts and matching shoes

True! The NCAA wants us to believe that fairness and Integrity are important but trust me its about the $$$ and taking care of the BRAND names! Case in point us getting in and the end of the Duke mens game yesterday!

Is Ark still in the WNIT or win it ? Haven’t been following

Man those Stste guards could hit those mid range shots! Very good game. Back and forth..

Oregon is an excellent passing team. MS standing around a lot in the 2nd half.

So please explain where the #1 should have been. Baylor has no site remotely close to them. Two #1's near Chicago, so somebody has to move or the silly logic of UL being a #2 and having to play ND. For Miss St you can't drops them to #2 to stay in Greenboro and have face Baylor in the elite 8. UL nor MSU would want to drop to #2.
