Perhaps we should start having conversations about how to see the babies cared for while not rewarding irresponsible, destructive behavior and growing the government, as the government may not and probably isn't the most efficient way of administering the solution?
Oh ffs if you share a CNN op-ed you may indeed get questioned. But regardless of the sight there is a video of him stating exactly what was on the article title. You’re being disingenuous as hell with your explanation.Sorry. If I'd shared a story from CNN or MSNBC, people would have spazzed out and I would have been dogpiled. I guess some sources are more equal than others here.
You haven't damaged anything with me.I absolutely agree with you. The government isn't the best solution (for much of anything, excepting national defense). Ideally, communities of Christ-followers should be demonstrably taking up the cause and leading the way with grace, love, and peace. If America's churches were more interested in following the teachings of Christ than building temples of excess and pampering their membership, the government would have to shut down most of its assistance programs from lack of need. But, I digress.
And while I have likely irreparably harmed my witness with you (and others) in the brash way I have fumbled words and attempted to make points, I do want to encourage you in your walk with Christ. Be careful not to become legalistic as some of the early church bodies tried to become. I also don't like the oversexualization that society is pouring out; my wife and I do our best to raise our children to understand the special nature of the sexual relationship. Maybe we can all make some headway as families, then as communities, and so on.
We have to be very careful about how we discuss consequences. As fellow followers of Christ, we both know that justice would mean God striking us down where we sit for our sinful natures. Instead, we were given mercy in the incarnation of Jesus the Christ. As His followers, we are expected to extend that mercy to others. To quote a friend and pastor who has been a part of my faith restoration journey: "Jesus is always on the side of the outcasts, the sick, the afflicted, the despised, and the unclean. While the Bible can be used selectively to make a solid argument for being prejudiced and exclusive, Jesus is always welcoming and sharing a table with women, foreigners, drunks, whores, cheats, liars, and deceivers." Mercy doesn't mean condoning the actions we disagree with. It merely means extending the love of Christ to them and letting the Spirit do the convicting.
Peace be with you.
"After Mueller report shows no Trump-Russia collusion" Does it matter what the report says when you are willing to pretend to know something you haven't even read yet? Clearly, the person who came up with that headline has an agenda.Well then.... plenty of time for President Trump to have someone poison it.
Although I am an unbeliever...this is the Christianity that was modeled by my late father and which I have utmost respect for as a belief system/philosophy ...I absolutely agree with you. The prospect remains that Donald Trump Jr. will be indicted by the SDNY and Paul Manafort (without a pardon) will be in prison for the next 7 years.... Roger Stone and Michael Flynn? Remains to be seen. Some of these right-wing outlets are too eager to gloat. Here's a nice flashback.
