Yep, regular season meant absolute dogsh!t last year because we went out in the second round of the NCAAI’ve never felt the regular season Championship was a big deal. It’s not what you play for. I want the Conference tourney title and the Natty. Basketball is a tournament sport.
Regular season championships are for baseball.
Duke, UNC, Virginia, Gonzaga, UK, Michigan, Michigan State, Texas Tech
UNC could end up with 7 losses depending on tonight’s game, MSU will likely finish with 7 or 8, and if they do somehow beat UM and win the tourney, then UM will finish with 6 and the rankings are already kinda low on UM for a 4 loss team. They aren’t gonna put 8 teams above usDuke, UNC, Virginia, Gonzaga, UK, Michigan, Michigan State, Texas Tech

Qft. I can guarantee the team is extremely disappointed. Their goals were still even more than an SEC championship or SEC tournament championship. Their goals are still out there for the taking. The 1 seed wins the championship nearly 75% of the time. Of course, it matters. Any time you hang a banner, it matters. The Vols worked all season to win the SEC. It would've mattered if we'd won and it matters that we lost. Ridiculous to pretend otherwise.
Other than the fact of the automatic bid, I value the regular season title more than the tournament title. Anyone can get hot/lucky for 3 or 4 games. The regular season is a grind and is over an 18 game schedule. Overall body of work. Much tougher to win that title than tournament title. If they are going to continue to give out automatic bids I wish they would give it to the regular season champion. With that being said the conferences would have to do a much better job of scheduling.
