My baseball career ended in little league because all of a sudden I couldn't hit a ball or catch anything. Got moved to outfield and struck out every at bat. Turns out my vision had completely gone to crap over the summer, but by the time I got glasses/contacts, the damage was done and I already hated baseball.
Threw a mid 70s fastball in 7th grade. Then I tore my rotator cuff before the season ever started. By the time I fully healed as a HS freshman, my fastball was probably 5-10 mph slower. Sucked.
Of course my dad always had me dreaming of going pro when I was really young. Little did he mention a very very small % of pro pitchers are under 6 feet. About 5%. Pitchers under 5'10 are white whales. I'm a fully grown 5'9 now. Never had a shot...
