It’s not just that she’s missing the tournament. It’s that she’s missing it with top 5 talent, because she can’t coach herself out of a wet paper sack. So, what can she do to make her team better? Recruit better? She already has some of the best talent. So that doesn’t work. Hire better assistants? She’s had 7 years and hasn’t. She has had 7 years to improve her own coaching, and things have just gradually gotten worse with every year. Only one thing left to do...fire her and find someone else that actually can coach. The Lady Vols is a national brand and will sell itself for recruiting.

LOL… Holly has been signing top five classes since she has been the coach. They obviously didn’t come for Pat, because Pat had already retired. They came, because the program is an elite women’s basketball program. Holly sold them on the fact that she could continue what Pat built. The only problem is that Holly must not have retained one iota of information that she learned from all the years of sitting on the bench as Pat’s assistant.

I greatly respect that story. However I have to say, there is no other Pat Summit. There was only one. I don't know what you all expect to walk through that door but it won't be her.

There was no other Bear Bryant, but because the Bama braintrust demanded excellence, they kept making moves until they came upon one Nick Saban.

I think she was the "good cop" in Pat's program - and played an important role in that capacity but I don't think she has it in her to demand excellence...

The last thing Fulmer wants is another coaching search right now, especially for a program with a divided fanbase that's going to mount opposition from all directions. Holly could decide she's had enough. If she wants another year before retirement, Fulmer's in a tough spot. No matter what he does or doesn't do, there will be a lot of unhappy people and much rabble-rousing. Not smart to let the program decline to this level and allow the situation to become this inflammatory.

Are you saying there are actual LV supporters that want Holly to stay, and will be upset if she is moved?

Wooden didn't have to coach very much. They were able to buy the best players in in high school for a long time.

Sam Gilbert made John Wooten what he was. Without Sam's involvement in buying the UCLA stars, Wooten would be just an ordinary coach. Everyone knew Sam ran that program and everyone just looked the other way. Blueblood programs are above the law.
