let's discuss the behavior of Gator fans in Gainesville.

Any comment??

I think they have the rudest fans of any away game Georgia coming in a close second. Alabama and Arkansas are my favorite to visit away.

USAF veteran myself.

I've not been to the swamp but the first two Vol fans I met who had been there told me the same thing, they said they would never go again.

One was in a tuxedo in a place that a dinner for six = $2,000+, the other was a filmmaker on a set who made $1,000+ per day.

I asked the same question of each; "why not?"

The answer was the same; "because I don't want to kill anybody and if I went back and they did the same I would kill some little SOB."

The first said he didn't see the humor in having a cup of pee thrown at him and the other said he didn't like having his mother cursed and his car keyed and radio aerial broken off right in front of him.

I have no problem with Arian knocking down a nut grabbing gator, if it were me I would put an Albert Haynesworth style cleat stomp on him to boot.

I've been to UGA, UK, LSU, Vandy, Miss, USC, and UF.

Gainesville has the worst fans in and out of the stadium.

I had a 14 year old with me and they were dropping F-bombs on him all day.

One way to shut them up is to beat them on the field -- not sure it will happen, and not really sure it will work.

I wish someone could teach them how to win with class. Meyer is just Spurrier with out a sense of humor.

Only places in the SEC I have not been to are Baton Rouge and Athens. Been to new Orleans, however, so I can only imagine.

Anyway, everyone has a-holes, but Gainesville and Tuscaloosa are the worst. Auburn is not far behind.

Obnoxious, drunk and redneck, as usual. Only Bama and UGA fans are worse.

LSU fans are worse than both of those IMO. bama fans are generally pretty respectful, or have been at all the games i have attended.

I agree that Bama fans are good. I remember UT getting hammers by them (Major's team) and on the way out of the stadium a Bama fan said -- "Man, we would love to have your wide outs!"

They are good students of the game.

maybe it's just me, but I've been to Florida Field 6 times....never had a single problem either visit. Maybe I was just lucky and was in the right place at the right time all the time.

You were lucky. I see people get harassed here all the time. I've gotten in verbal altercations plenty but nothing physical.....yet. Telling them how trashy and classless they are only makes them want to prove it even more. Evey school has idiot fans but UF definitely has more than most. Most of the idiots are spoiled little brats from South Florida who try to act like they are from NYC. Most of them don't know jack about football and weren't fans until coming to school here.

Gainesville is also a tremendous party atmosphere. Mixing heat, a-holes and alcohol is a volatile combination and UF's student section is twice the size of UT's. I'd be willing to bet that the average age of UF attendees is 15-20 years younger than UT and younger people tend to act like classless idiots and get sloppy drunk more often. That said, Florida fans are much worse to FSU fans or UGA fans when in Jax. It's ridiculous the number of fights that break out at that game every year but it is a hype atmosphere.

Finally, someone with more than 1 game under their belt to give a fair opinion. I have been to every stadium in the SEC, most numerous times, and regardless of where you go you will be cussed at, mocked, etc. We all have rude fans, but look at it as an experience, when I go to Knoxville and some student gets in my face and says **** the Gators, I tell him thank-you and move on.

Worry about winning games and getting some new coaches, not stoop to the level of throwing stones from your glass house.

I can handle people cussing or yelling at me. I expect that. Throwing beer bottles, cups of beer, or cups of urine is another thing all together. I can promise that if I got piss thrown on me that I'm swingin on anybody that's close to me. Luckily, those incidents are very isolated. I'd still rather have that happen than be thrown off the top of Neyland like what happened to the UF fan(wasn't he a dentist?). Being classless is one thing but killing or seriously hurting somebody is another. I hate that that happened....

Seems it is pretty consistent across the conf that UF is in the top 1-3 of worst places to visit. I've been twice and never should have gone back for the 2nd time. Not a mistake I will ever make again. My parents/grandparents have been to 3-4 games down there (since my brother went to UF) and experienced the same. Nothing like drunk college guys taking their frustrations out on an 75yo woman to give the place a good reputation.

I could say the same for every stadium in the conference, and I would say UF, LSU rank up there in most "polls". Part of this might be because opposing teams are usually losing so they look for other reasons to put down that school. Drunk college guys are the same everywhere

My one trip to the swamp was very unpleasant, but I concede your point.

You must have thousands that can tell the future down there in Hogtown because of the issues myself and others have had were BEFORE the game, which makes your statement rather silly.

The classless acts that happen in the swamp usually have nothing to do with the game. You can't deny that the gator program has an arrogance/cockyness that comes from when Spurrier was the coach. Zook did not have that air about him and was run out of town for a having similar seasons as to what Meyer had last year or Spurrier had before he left. Every gator fan I know disliked Zooks attitude and the fact that he wasn't nasty enough.
