Catfish recruit from Grace Christian Academy. Apparently rivals ranked a kid a 5.5 3 star that didn’t exist as soon as the kid claimed a Bama offer on a fake Twitter account. Woody was on the VQ defending their position claiming this can happen from time to time but could never reconcile why some recruits are rated lower than a recruit that doesn’t exist. Just wanted to share with the masses the recruiting process at Rivals.

Per Woody

Hey guys, I haven’t read all the responses here but this is obviously and unusual situation. The “kid” was on twitter claiming offers that didn’t exist and was given a 5.5 rating based on those early offers as a placeholder until we could see him in person or his film (which turned out to be non-existent) was updated.

Several non-Rivals sites even wrote articles on him receiving the offers and he was in the News-Sentinel as a Top 10 recruit in the area. We also had info in the database on him including a cell phone number and an email.

It’s not the first time a kid has made up offers and it won’t be the last.

Strong offer list. Clearly underrated!

Just curious, how was this discovered?

For all those that scoff when Rivals gets blowback from dropping 5 stars down to 4 AFTER the season? Rivals Woody blatantly tries to justify giving a NONEXISTENT kid 3 stars as a “placeholder” based on fake tweets!

And yet some posters on here take recruiting services’ rankings as gospel. P.T. Barnum is once again proven correct.

Just another lesson that recruiting services follow the lead of coaches that do this for a living, not the other way around.

Realize that when Jeremy Pruitt offers a 3-star recruit, there's a basis for that offer, and that basis isn't Rivals or 247sports. These guys truly don't know.

Preach! Have maintained that this coach knows what his kind of players LOOK LIKE and uses his own film. He does swing big at players who qualify and have a high number of stars FIRST...and then works his way down.
