I don't either. Unless they are those that say they are "realistic" when in fact they are the most unrealistic by demanding we have to recruit the same as AL and GA right now or else....Are people really complaining about the 2019 class? Even if we miss the linebackers, how do you complain about this class? Other than maybe Means who the coaches really seem to like, there isn't a reach in the class. It will have bookend 5 star offensive tackles, not to mention the studs Pruitt signed for the interior line. It will have the best player in the country, imo, in Crouch. One of the best running backs in the country in Gray. One of the best receivers in the country in Keyton. One of the best QB's in the country in Maurer. The best juco DL who has 3 years to play in Williams. It has quite possibly the best DB class in the nation with Tank and the boys. This is an elite class, even if the rankings don't necessarily show that. One of the reasons the rankings won't show that is because we're going to take less players than those above us. But the class will still finish around 12th, barring a surprise that moves it higher like Pickens. I bet our average will be top 10, which is the most important thing anyway, after Wright signs. I wish that we would've done better at DL and at LB. But at DL we signed some juco guys who can hopefully provide instant impact and we also signed an elite pass rusher in Harrison. At LB we signed Crouch. We could have done better there but all that means is that we have to nail those two positions in the 2020 class.
I don't see how in the world anybody is complaining about this class.
The VQ podcast basically said that since the staff didn't offer Russell after he camped, and since Jimbo personally made him a very big deal, that he's not coming to UT. Because of the UT love in Dyersburg, Russell allowed the coaches to keep coming to town so that the townspeople would enjoy it instead of telling the coaches that he wasn't coming to UT.
Then, VQ roasted the staff pretty hard on how they handled this year's in state recruiting. They mentioned Joseph Anderson, Zion Logue, and Russell specifically.
They did comment how in state prospects in Tennessee are not like other states where a school can offer at the 11th hour and them take that offer and not be offended while if Tennessee offers late, they are often insulted and don't come.
My question for the board is: Why do you think that is? Is it because UT isn't winning lately? It seems like it's been this way for a long time though.
Agree 100% and i think he was a backup to Marshall (uga signee) as well... #NextI made the point earlier regarding him not getting an offer at camp at UT over the summer: if Russell and Harrison are literally at the same camps, doing the same drills, etc., and we don’t offer Russell but offer Harrison, then obviously he wasn’t a definite take. I’m not losing sleep if we don’t get Russell. Backup plan to Pappoe, backup plan to To’oto’to. Never a necessity.

More impressed with Asante, anyway. Wish we would've put the resources and energy we spent here, there. Then again, you never know when the kid just flat out tells you in the beginning, he's not coming. Maybe that's what happened with Asante; never heard anything else after he was offered. All I been reading is a hole bunch of stupid assumptions. I will laugh like a maniac if he shows up. If he don't, just thinking we have good options to replace. Robinson, that other good LB, ect.
