'19 TN ILB Christopher Russell (Texas A&M signee)

In regards to Russell, he was someone we talked ourselves into being the next Patrick Willis. In all reality, he is roughly the 900th ranked player in the country that would do nothing more than play special teams and provide a little depth. Save the spot for someone next year that will likely contribute.

Yesterday and into the evening went very well for the coaches. As of this morning, and up till now, the visit is still on. His family and him are planning to come to Knoxville still. I promise you, if anything changes, I will let you know.
right after simonton, price, hubbs etc...does.

got it.

Lol this kid is a very good football player.

If we don’t get him, good luck to him.

Let’s be adults.

If you won't see this for what it is, idk what to tell you.

These guys aren't bad recruiters, but this is two years in a row that they've bungled the last few spots in a class.
well, i think CJP has already addressed this during the ESD...we need to close better.

no argument there. but this isn't a whiff. it's not like we've been recruiting this kid for 18 months and can't get it done. he's a back up plan for 3 schools, and his stock shot up like a rocket in the last 8 to 10 weeks as a result of the "new demand" for his services.

All jokes aside. The Memphis Whitehaven ILBs for 2020 are better than this kid. Banks and Peterson might not have let Russell play much anyway. I think Crouch ends up on the edge, but he'll start out Insidebacker.

Russell is a good player, but he is not going to make or break the class.

We still need more speed and playmaking in the secondary.

well, siap, but yeah, unless we can get kids we WANT to close this class, i'd shut it down. PIckens qualifies as one we'd want...fo sho.
Well, there is legitimate debate over his spot being a wasted one. If you are carrying two forward I think it makes it a no brainer.

oh, i know. and if it were up to me, i wouldn't let him sign lol. i htink he's definitely a big risk acadmically. but we aren't in the position of being able to pick and choose, and we have no one at WR that could affect defenses like he will be able to do. pair him with Ramel and the guys we already have and we're instantly better at WR.

so, i could see hte staff taking the chance, and much like with Bryce and JJ....figuring it out and getting him in, even if it is at the 11th hour..........
