Yup. Same here.

We still had to get up early to listen to the radio to see if they were closed, also.
Our grade school was about a mile from where we lived in the "holler", and actually on that road beside the main road. They didn't run a bus up there until I was in like the 6th or 7th grade. There was several days we'd walk to school and it snowing, but it be closed. Thank God it wasn't up hill both ways 🤣

Thats tge only thing i don't understand. The last two times they've cancelled school based on nothing but the forecast, we didn't even get a flake. At least see if it's gonna do anything first
 
When my family moved to the north shore of Chicago when I was in the 10th grade because my father went back in the Army for preparation for a Vietnam tour they had the most snow in the history of Chicago at the time. The school I went to had a history of not closing because of snow. It started snowing when we got there in mid September and stopped the beginning of April. Never got out of going to school one single day the entire year.
