Total weight loss - from slim 182 to current 122. Photo is close up of the pancreas area, weight loss will allow you to identify swelling seen in graphic further down.

CT scan shows hardened calcium covering entire pancreas, no cure.
Specialist also believes there is a calcium blockage in the pancreatic duct. The duct should be an average of 2.5 mm, mine was 7 last yr and 9mm this year.

This stops enzymes from breaking down any food and is extremely painful. Also, an occasional burst of excessive enzymes that eat at my insides in a form of acute pancreatitis (hospitalization)
Forward plan in order.
1.Exploratory scope with camera, possible procedure:
Oral scope through stomach to pancreas entrance.
Possible results
A. "net removal" of blockage.
B. Next procedure due to size of blockage
C. "Complete mess" look for different solutions.

2. Back to duct entrance to install a stint and hope for assistance in removal

3. Two different attempts according to previous data/results.

3(a) - sent to a different part of the country for sonic pulses:
Sonic blast waves from outside of pancreas in an attempt to explode calcium in the duct to removable pieces. Possible enternal damage and bleeding.

3(b) - surgery to install a tube connecting to bottom of pancreas, bypassing duct. Enzymes would have to back flush to stomach. Not the best solution.

All options have a probable risk of dangerous acute pancreatitis reoccurrences.

Tl;dr
There just is no final cure for the pancreas as a whole but the duct repair could absolutely give me my life back for the most part.
Truth is, I've spent all that I have and will struggle mightily to afford the first procedure. I see no possibility of being able to financially continue past that point.
Shouldn't be working until some pressure can be relieved but not working is absolutely not an option. But maybe something will happen to allow these things to happen. Anyone have a lucrative job opening 😁

It's a long shot financially but with a wife and 2 kids that are so dependant on me, I have to try everything I can to extend my time for/with them. Please keep me and them in your thoughts and prayers, it means so much to me. I'm determined to stay positive but will really need the emotional backing from my VN extended family.
Charger, sounds like you have EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency). It is tough to diagnose but sounds similar to what you are experiencing. From what I went and read about it after reading this post I thought I should suggest you take a look at it and see what your doctor thinks. It is treatable with meds that increase enzymes and allow your food to be digested normally. I hope I haven't overstepped my boundaries. Prayers your way. Good luck and God Bless.

Let me ask you this.... would it make you feel good to help another Vol friend in need? Whether it be financial or otherwise? I would gladly donate to a gofundme or something to help with your medical expenses as would many. One of the greatest things that I have experienced is handing a check of over $10,000 to RichRollins's wife when he passed, all money from donations primarily from people on this board. No one contributed without joy in their heart to do so. And there instance is when @orangeblood79 's daughter had a serious heart condition as a baby and VN raised money to assist in her care. Vol fans take pride in helping others, it's who we are, it's what we do, its part of our DNA. That's why we are known as Volunteers.

Don't look at any assistance as a handout, because that's not how others look at it. What it is is our opportunity to participate in this battle with you. We fuss and fight all the time but in the end we are all brothers and sisters.

Get off your stubborn hill and accept help when it's offered to you you old stubborn bastage!

I will be praying brother.

Prayers offered for a breakthrough from the divine Healer and Savior of mankind, charger. All you have to do is be willing to let us know when you need any financial assistance. You have our prayers and support. We are all in this together.

Except for @utvols88 since he refuses to acknowledge his need for coffee.

Such a good person Invol and yes, it is a very good feeling.
Helping those out is one of the best feelings I can remember.

I promise not to rule anything out, just want to explore every other possibility first. If I can find a way to make it happen or earn it, that would be my dream.
Let me try... if it comes down to just impossible, I will be more open minded. I know you guys are there and every single one if you should be proud, you guys have already honored the Volunteer name and spirit with your offers.
Truly my extended family!

Can you start a go fund me? How much will insurance cover?

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Just remember there is no shame in accepting help from those willing to help. Everyone on this board has received help at some point in time to get where they are today. Just accept whatever comes your way, be gracious (as I know you will) and maybe the good Lord will put you in a position to pay it forward to someone else down the line. Based on the way you post I would be 100 percent shocked if someone on this board needed financial help and if you were in a position to help them you would. You have a family that loves you and wants you to be around. Keep fighting. God Bless.
QFT....now is not the time for pride to get in the way. I am.sure your kids would rather have you around, more than anyone else.

Maybe if you list kind of a generic resume of what kinds of work yer qualified to do or have done, someone may have some suggestions on jobs you can do from home on yer own time at yer own pace. Something flexible where you do it when you feel up to it. That way people can help you make money without you feeling like yer taking handouts.

Praying to the Great Physician on your behave.

hey, anyone know when the spring game is this year?

They have to work around TV schedules, and UT is one of the last SEC schools to announce. Looking like it could be April 20 (maybe at 4:00) or even April 27. Friday, April 19 is also a possibility, but a lot of people don't want a Friday game.

Thanks. And I'm one of those that doesn't. Figured it'd be end of April...

Guess I'll just wait for it lol

Yep, too many UT fans travel for the O&W game for the Vols to take a Friday spot. You're not up against other spring games for TV times, but it's not good for fans and not as much fun for kids.

That's honestly a good idea.
Have to get some stuff done now but will come back to this. Still work 40 hrs. Good company, but didn't start until I was questioning if I had health issues. Independently employed before. Really miss that.
They are completely * time-with-the-company* pay based. No way for experience or talent to improve my situation. They had better insurance than other options though, so I went with them.
I will try to limit it to realistic options (time and energy) when I get a chance .

To include me!

I went to a spring game for the first time last year and took the two little ones and it was a blast! I want to take off on Friday this year and come down the day before so it’s not as hectic on Saturday.

Can’t wait.

I think charger would be a good chauffeur for some on VN. Probably hang out with those on VN he drives around for a day or night. Something like that

April 20 is Easter weekend this year. Not sure of the effect that would make on deciding the date for the O&W game

From a poster on VQ...

Heard Coach Pruitt speak at a clinic this weekend...
  • First of all, Tennessee football is in great hands. Coach Pruitt is a ballcoach in every sense of the term.
  • He was clearly more in his element at the coaching clinic than he is in front of a camera or at press conferences - this was the first time I had really gotten to see Coach Pruitt's personality come out.
  • Pruitt came across as extremely personable and genuine - even giving out his cell number to the coaches there - he said he wants Tennessee to be the most accessible program in the country for high school coaches - 8 of 11 members of the on-field staff got their start as HS coaches
  • CONVERSELY - Kirby Smart was also speaking at the clinic later in the day - Kirby LEFT THE CLINIC (in Atlanta no less!) ~15-20 minutes into his talk and had Glenn Schumann (ILB Coach) finish the final hour or so - Schumann did a solid job and seems like a rising star in coaching - but a really bad look for Kirby no doubt
  • Pruitt spoke on split-safety 3 x 1 coverages - he was incredibly sharp but was also a very good communicator/teacher - the technical details of the coverages themselves would likely be a bore here - but the point being he spoke about complex coverages in simple enough terms that showed he is adept at teaching them to 18-22 year old athletes
  • Pruitt (somewhat) jokingly made the comments that Will (Muschamp) or Kirby wouldn't share certain checks or adjustments to the coverages but he was sharing them with us
  • Spoke very highly of Chaney - in particular the way he deploys some personnel that I won't divulge here
  • Complimented Mike Bobo several times throughout the talk - also told a story about Brian Daboll and Tom Brady that was intersting
  • Mentioned that he had the offense install certain "beaters" to the pass coverages he knew they would see from week to week - otherwise didn't speak much about the offensive side of the ball
  • Being in Atlanta - mentioned that when Tennessee was at their peak many of the foundational players of those teams were from Georgia - that's why he has FIVE different coaches assigned to the state in recruiting
  • Pruitt started his talk early, stayed late, was great to talk to, and then got back on the road recruiting. Everything about him reinforced my belief that it's a matter of when, not if, the Vols are back competing for SEC Championships
