John Adams

Lack of respect for what the team is trying to accomplish.

Lack of respect for the players.

Lack of respect.

One can be insightfully critical without using disrespect.

For example, Tee had the longest streak of complete passes. Will that make him more comfortable with an offense where receivers are, mostly, to high point the ball, and worry less about yac?
Are reports supposed to write about what the team is "trying to accomplish?"

Have you seen how folks here speak of our players?

It's one thing to be realistic and objective, it's quite another to be a sarcastic, snarky D-hole that makes an ass out of himself while trying to look smart. And I'm sorry but anyone who considers this chump an objective professional journalist is naive or FOS one.

About the most accurate post I've seen in a while.

I'm not a fan of John Adams but he usually writes realistic stuff regarding the Vols. It's what we don't want to hear but it's the truth a lot.

No, he doesn't. He is nothing more than a swill stirring SOB. You call it realistic, do you even know what realistic is? He writes his opinion, that's all. Just because you might find things he says you agree with does not make it "realistic".

I personally feel the day he announces his retirement will be like winning five national championships in a single day. It will, at least for me, feel that damn good.

Tennessee football hasn’t really given a sports writer much to work with in a while.

That's BS. Not everything he writes I agree with BUT he speaks the truth a lot of the times. You just don't want to read/hear we suck but I've got news your you. We have sucked for the past decade except for two seasons (which we didn't even beat a SECw team in those two seasons). Take your orange shades off.

Yes.

The team is trying to accomplish this.

And it blew up in their faces in this way.

They may be trapped into must start contracts that keep players like Kamara on the bench. Probably not good for team moral or victories because it is dishonest to the team. They will start calling you a liar. Maybe in a rap video.

Maybe they should develop an alternative draw besides must start contracts....

Here is what they are doing. Solid path to the pros. Education support. Strength and conditioning that will last a life time. Family foundation skills like dependability...

All of that appreciates and respects what the team is trying to accomplish - Without hiding facts.

Providing a little context for action respects the effort and investment and improves reporting.

The realist angle is always such crap. He rarely has an original take and simply piles on with the negative. He gets more clicks that way and it keeps him employed. Stop clicking stuff from bad writers and they will eventually move on (or get hired by VolsWire)
Speaking of Volwire, how is it Dan is allowed to keep posting his articles here? Doesn't that violate the new guidelines about spamming? I think it's pretty crappy he's using freak and volnation to solicit.

Thank you for being an independent thinker sir. Takes a strong mind to both love something and openly accept critiques and hard realities. They can coexist and we need much more of it, especially in politics (not to make this political, but partisanship and demonization of opposing opinions is a real threat to a working republic).

that ship sailed years ago....

I have no idea what you are talking about. But if reports had reported what UT was trying to accomplish the last decade, they would all look like fools.

What has he done that is so egregious though? He isn't writing for the #1 program in the country, not even top 10. Not everything is going to be peaches. Better to be even and fair, not some silly homer telling gullible SPers we will be a 10 win team every year. Bet his realistic predictions have beaten most predictions the past 10 years.

I don't know so much about this John Adams guy other than he writes for KN. But I do know some of our Vols fans are a particular lot. They must have someone to hate, if none, invent a reason to hate somebody, as if they are in love with hating. And it ranges from teams, our own players or ex-players, coaches, or ex-coaches, writers, fellow fans and beyond. It ignites a phosphorus-like fire under my collar when outsiders mock our fanbase. Especially when what they claim can't be denied because it's all too true. Rankles me all the same. SIGH!!!!!!! I guess that makes me guilty too for hating haters, whoever they may be.

Adams is an old hackneyed smartass writer, never played a minute of sports in his life, and is not from Tenn.... he will never get what it means to be a Vol.

John Boy is an LSU fan. He loves to pour salt in the wounds of Tennessee fans, players and the university. Basically he is a POS with an IQ of a dog turd.

GO VOLS!!!!

Never heard of him before so I just looked up his past 5 articles and they sounded fairly positive about UT. Talked about how men’s basketball rise could possibly be a permanent thing and how the lack of UT players being drafted by the NFL could be a good thing since it shows we haven’t lost much if anything in talent going into next year and should be better. He didn’t say we would beat Bama next year so maybe that is why some people don’t like him.

He isn't a sunshine pumper so people hate him. Iirc he has won several journalism awards. He is actually pretty good. Too many sensitive Sallys on here.
Use to be good. Past tense, he is soooooo butt hurt, because UT coaches have stop giving him exclusives. I think most UT fans know when one of the programs are performing poorly. John's insight is neither original or informed, it's easy to be a negative nancy.

That is the norm. Says good things when deserved. Doesn't sugarcoat it when we are bad. People hate anything that isn't bootlicking for UT.

No, try again

Tennessee has had 7 losing seasons in the last 11 years. Had to double check this to make sure it was correct. Two of the other four ended at 7-6.

There has been very little positive to write about Tennessee football over the last several years.

Find an article on men’s basketball the last couple of years and I’ll bet you see a rosier point of view
