Sometimes, as fans, we overstep the bounds of criticism into becoming insulting. Not living up to our expectations does not make any of these young men horrible people. Maybe bad football players, but not bad people. It's easy to get carried away with rhetoric.
Exactly if recruiting services put a 2-3 * by your name, there are no expectations and a wide margin to play within. Put a 5, and you have a narrow margin line to tie in order to not be a bust. Hard road for a 18-21 year old student

I don't know know if I'd go so far as to say he was horrible but let's be real, he has been below average to mediocre at absolute best and despite being probably the most physically talented lineman on the team, he has been that way his entire time here. Add to that his other-worldly knack for routinely committing stupid, drive killing penalties and it's pretty clear why there is a high level of frustration with him.

I’ll sum up Drew:

He came in with high expectations as a 5* lineman in a position of great need. As a three year starter, he contributed, but never stood out in a positive way, nor did he seem to make the players around him better. The truth is, the most memorable moments were blown assignments and consistent false start penalties as his unit continued to be the weakest in the team.

I think this is objective, yet respectful.

Thanks for posting. I lost my son a week ago today (on my birthday). He was 17 weeks in the womb but very much alive to my wife and me. We were able to hold his tiny body knowing he would never experience the life we know. He’s really the lucky one. He’s safe now tucked tight in the arms of God.
I can't imagine what you are going through. My prayer is for God to comfort you and your family and know that you'll meet him again one day.

She was a treasure, and is missed dearly on the Hill. I remember watching on my phone the video of the Tennessee Waltz being played on campus the day after her passing. I won’t lie...I was teary-eyed.
Me, the 1st time I read about her refusing the emergency landing in VA because no way her child wasn't being born in TN.

Very fair. “Disappointing relative to expectations” is the phrase I’d use to describe Drew Richmond.

Sorry. I just dont think hes a great player. He represents the Butch era to a T. If hes as great as you think, whys he leaving?
By that logic I think we should get rid of you and yer butch profile pic. Yer not that great and you represent the butch era to a t. I'm wondering why you aren't leaving. Sorry.

Why do we as Tennessee fans turn on players who play for our team? Feel free to criticize their play but don't assume you know their intentions. It's shameful for fans to make villains of their own players, on my opinion.
Posters who turn on our players are heartless quitters. And if you take offense to this post maybe you shouldn't throw the first stone. Still love you Ulysses. Just saying.

My wife and I lost one at 14 weeks. It was a terrible, odd feeling to grieve so much for a child I never met. Prayers for peace and comfort for you and your wife.
