If that ends up being the case, IMO I'm not too worried. Kelly's a good coach, but his play calling at FSU left a little to be desired, and those squads he had were loaded with some good talent.

He's about even with Tosh in terms of DC potential, but I don't think he's near the recruiter Tosh "Money's in the Coffee Cup" Lupoi is.
Agree. FSU fans hated him as DC. I’m hoping he stays at UT because I think he’s a good coach and recruiter. He has very good relationships in areas we recruit.

Nah, the VQ guys said it as well.

Didn't mean anything bad by that, but your posts were the only place I'd seen it mentioned.

There are a lot of ways to interpret "badmouthing," but I never saw the VQ quotes.

Not a big deal. It doesn't seem to be a problem for Pruitt given the coaches he's pulled in and the ones he's retained since then.

this f'ing guy

anyone else expect to see a little more out of Sanders at the all star game?

i liked Ealy better but was small sample size so...

Rivals - South: The buzz around key official visits this weekend
Cox
Visting: Auburn

The Buzz: Will Cox stay with Tennessee or end up at Auburn or Ole Miss? Auburn has been considered a true threat to the Vols since the summer, but Cox was in Knoxville last weekend, the visit went well and he still says he is solid with his commitment. Keep an eye on Auburn though. It is the in-state school, he is very familiar with the program and they host him this weekend. It could come down to numbers here for both Auburn and Tennessee. He is set to visit Ole Miss January 25.

Pickens

Visiting: Georgia

The Buzz: The five-star wide receiver out of Alabama is committed to Auburn, but will he end up a Tiger on the Plains? Another Tigers, LSU, was thought to be the biggest threat, but could it be Georgia? The first day after the dead period, Georgia visited Pickens, and now the Dawgs will host him on an official visit. Pickens has been in regular contact with new offensive coordinator James Coley and receivers coach Cortez Hankton over the last six weeks and UGA was back in to see him Wednesday night. Tennessee has come on strong and the Vols are likely to have Pickens in Knoxville next weekend. He has already taken official visits to Auburn and LSU. The odds of him staying with Auburn are 50-50 at best right now it seems.

Jammie

Visiting: Tennessee

The Buzz: Has Auburn moved to the top of the list for Robinson? It looked like heading into last weekend, before the Auburn visit, it was Kentucky and South Carolina looking down to everyone else. After the visit though, there is a real buzz about the Tigers. Now, Tennessee has its chance. Robinson has not visited Knoxville near as much as he has Auburn and Columbia, so he is not as familiar with how things work under Jeremy Pruitt, but he feels like a priority for the Vols. He will give the UT staff a shot this weekend to show what they have to offer.

Yep, Ealy should have ran away with all of the rankings. But, practice...

VQ mods mentioned it on a podcast. And of course the insider message board talk. I’m not saying it’s true, I actually think it’s more likely false. But I’m saying if it is true it looks bad on Helton, not Pruitt. And clearly we’ve upgraded at the OC position.
Yea I don't think those two personalities worked very well together. I think both are glad they parted ways.

I gotcha man. People have given me a hard time because I stand by my stance that Pruitt is a prickly guy to work for. He’s just like Saban and just like Kirby - which is why some guys gel with them and some guys don’t.

Helton didn’t like it and got out. And I don’t think Pruitt wanted to keep him regardless.

But on the whole, I don’t agree with the sentiment that coaches are running away from Saban and Alabama because he’s suddenly so much harder to work for and we’re able to keep guys because Pruitt is suddenly warm and cuddly.

We have one extra coach right now, yes?
If so:
A. who do we hope leaves?
B. who do we think actually will leave?[/QUOTE]

It's been reported that 5 out of 4 struggle with math. SIAP

David Ubben said it also

I remember that podcast and remember thinking that people were blowing what they said out of proportion. If I'm not mistaken, they used the word "wonder" when having that discussion, as in they "wondered" if some other coaches weren't reaching out to Helton and getting bad feedback. It seemed very speculative when I heard it.

Next day, the narrative on VQ from posters was that Pruitt was unreasonably mean to coaches and wouldn't be able to hire a reputable OC. It blew up from there.

It’s going to be interesting to watch the numbers play out for this 2019 class. I hope we take 25 and finish with wright, toot toot, Russell, and griffin (wr from Louisiana)

So would you rate his basketVol posts a .......... 5

Basketball is more subjective. Mostly on strategy. I played through college and coached for a while. There are a lot of takes Bruin has that are more in line with how I see basketball as a whole. That’s all. 👊🏼
