Agreed definitely should be some consequences. I guess their thinking though is if he does come back you want him in good shape and we might need the lineman for spring.

How would that work? If a kid's name is in the portal, its bound to get out if any school official can see it.

I don't blame him. His case should be more legitimate than Fields but since Fields is race it will be easy win for Fields when it shouldn't be unless there is more we don't know.

Tate committed to Urban who unexpectedly retires. He didn't commit to Day who obviously prefers a different style QB that can throw more than Tate can. I think Tate has a reasonable reason for leaving unlike Fields. Tate's hand was forced. Kid is a tool but he waited his turn quietly and day clearly doesn't believe in him as the guy. He shouldn't have to sit out a yr for that

All of this should be understood by now when kids sign somewhere. Your coach may leave. It happens. He’d have immediate eligibility if he simply wasn’t a quitter. He has no argument.

Except 3 yrs ago nobody expected Urban to claim a brain aneurysm because his WR coach is a wife beater. It's not like he committed to Butch or someone with job in limbo. I bet you wouldn't be saying this if we were trying to get a Bama kid if Saban retired unexpectedly

That also got leaked all the time. Both systems are supposed to be private. Neither end up being private. The portal is a more organized way to do it and eliminates some of the shadiness of it so it's the better system. IMO.

I would. By this logic everyone at Bama except the incoming freshmen can transfer out and play immediately. That would completely while out the program. Phillips, Tuttle, Jennings, JG, Taylor should have all transferee and been eligible to play anywhere. Everyone at Miami should be able to go anywhere. One entitled player doesn’t get to bend the rules because everything goes differently than his little pipe dream. It is no different than Irban going to the NFL. Coaches leave. All the time. That is the dumbest argument he can make.
