Indeed Locks is doodoo. Maryland in for rude awakening
Yea i can’t believe they hired him lol. There is a lot of Under Armour money up there. My first call would’ve been to Tony Elliot at Clemson. He could’ve stayed recruiting that east coast and Carolinas.

Yeah, I’m real happy with Chaney but the idea that Sark would have been a bad hire just seemed wrong to me. Seems like an odd choice for Chip Long to leave the OC position at ND to take a subordinate role at Bama however. I guess he’s thinking he can parlay it into a HC position in 3 years.

Swamp is nice? Auburn is a dump? I have been to all 3 and not sure that’s how I would characterize those.

this was (edit) 20 years ago.

but, yes i stand behind what i said.

Auburn was one continual expanse of Nascar esque redneck fifth wheels and RV's for miles. Stadium was ok. Town sucks. Like the school, have family that graduated there (enemy of my enemy). But the old school pageantry, history, and prestige of Bama was excellent. I enjoyed talking old school football with the old timers. Listening to their stories and rubbing elbows as a twenty year old is something ill never forget.

Def dont make em like that any more! Aub has since won a title, and sev championships. I'm sure they've upgraded that used car lot/new money venue they've got.

ill say this...ive never seen Frat Houses like ive seen at Aub. Ridiculous.

My impression Swamp was a very nice place. UF wasnt that great.

Tuscaloosa was an great campus. their strip is right on top of everything, theyre very lucky. area around the stadium was beautiful, the stadium at that time hadnt been used ? recall some or all UT Bama games were in Birmingham. In 1999 Bammer stadium only held about 70K. theyve really made it nice since then.

Auburn is a dump.

To each his own. Our gamedsy experience at Auburn was nice.

Remember that the AD who hired Locksley at Maryland is Damon Evans. He was the AD at UGA until he got caught dipping his pen in company ink in the back seat of a car, so he has a well-documented history of making poor decisions.

Not at all. one team would be celebrating with thier fans

Celebrations are being given more leeway these days but taunting not

What’s the difference between celebrating and taunting (when not directed at a particular player)? Fine line. Who cares? Let them have fun. Doing the Gator chomp after scoring a TD in Gainesville isn’t much/any different than doing the “shhh” gesture or a “I can’t hear you” gesture, etc. Let them have fun and rile up the home student section. It’s part of the fun of it all.

And as 88 said, how is a Florida player chomping at our student section not just as much taunting?

My experience was longer ago than that. Auburn in 1998 and Gainesville in 1999. I will never forget the trip to Gainesville. Not fun.

Auburn was just a cow town, but I wouldn’t refer to it as a dump. Gainesville is a different story.

I agree that Tuscaloosa is pretty cool. I have been there a few times.

being born and raised in Florida, I've been to the swamp in a neutral and visiting team manner plenty of times. When I first came to Tennessee, I was drawn by the people and fan base. Let that sink in.

Floridas fan base is your typical new money, arrogant, delusion of grandeur snobby kid.

I've also been to Auburn a few times. I've had mostly good experiences.

South Carolina is comparable to UF but without anything to hang their hat on. its nasty over there.

Not overall. Everyone has outliers but our fan base compared to UF is not even close. Other fan bases speak well of our hospitality. You are just wrong on this one.
Seems like we give what we get.
Oklahoma fans rave about the hospitality. UF fans complain about our attitude (along with most everyone elses).
Guess it never occurred to them that they just reap what they sow. Almost like they have a complete lack of awareness 🤔

Death Valley (LSU) is bucket list. As is Ole Piss.
Death Valley at night. Much...more interesting....

And hit the Grove. If you’re not wearing MSU colors people will offer you food and a seat. It’s considered polite to make way too much food just so you can share.

Maybe, maybe I am in a biker gang. Maybe I belong to the Outlaws. I am the Chaplain to the Outlaws. lol There always seem to be an opening in gangs for chaplains.

I like Treasure Coast. We're 5th generation Volusia Countiers. Honestly i like the vibes better than Gulf. NSB is easy going, hippie town. Lots of National Seashore\National Park. Small town feel, surfing, fishing, Kayaking. only thing about gulf is tarpon run/variety of bait close to shore.

Also NSB has history. There's legislation to mark Turtle Mound as oldest civizaltion in US, predating Augustine. I know my opinion isnt shared by many. But theres a reason Orlandites vacation in NSB. heck im glad the Gulf pulls people away.

********. A gator chomp in Neyland is no different than one in Gainesville by another team. It's a taunt.

It's definitely a taunt and the most childish of gestures, right up there with the hated hook 'em horns gesture. Texas is another set of arrogant, nerdy fans, called "tea sips" by fans of other Texas schools.

Not coincidentally, I hate both schools and their idiot fans with a passion.
