Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

You don’t need 40 guys in football. I think the premise is that you have to recruit several high level players (preferably one at QB) and then develop the others around them to be solid players. As long as improvement is made, then future recruiting success will come. If we go 7-5 or better next year, 2020 recruiting will go well. The blueprint by Barnes is there; just have to adjust it to football. We aren’t looking to contend for a title next year- that’s when you need 40 blue chip athletes right away.

LMAO.

This is a horrible take. You need quality depth in football.

All the ones I remember before had a hot board of about 8 names coming out almost immediately with everyone convincing themselves that it was going to be some rockstar hire that wasn’t even on the list. Then about a week and a half out, there would be rumors that it was done with about the third best the guy on the hot board. Everyone then starts to psyche themselves up about the guy, and just about the time everyone has convinced themselves that this guy is a honerun, it is announced that it has fallen through. Two days later, the guy at the very bottom of the hot board is announced as coach.

Your not wrong I Steele think this one information wise has been different. Tons of guessing.

However, for all coaches involved, it is their careers. You cant get more essential to life than one's livelihood. For the players, it is often their best chance to be financially successful if they can parlay it into a pro career. Football IS life to football players and coaches. Wishing them ill in football is wishing them ill in life. Dont get me wrong, I wish them ill as well. But I face the fact that I am wishing them ill in their lives. It's part of buying into the rivalry of competition.

If they take a job or choose to play for Bama or Georgia, then it’s their fault and I don’t care. They can be healthy and have good families but can go to work like the rest of us after losing every game.

Well, they are now 12-2, and currently ranked #10 in the country. If I'm not mistaken, they are still a young team. They have recruited well.

I'm not saying she is the greatest floor coach - pretty sure she isn't...but if she continues to recruit well, maybe she can out-talent everyone. Also, maybe the players are just not executing like they will with more experience. Today, we had 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores with significant playing time.

Holding out (a sliver of) hope.

She actually coaches better with young talent. I can’t say that I know the team inside and out every year, but her first team was young and exceeded expectations.

It seems she has trouble advancing the program as her players get more experience. Kind of like Butch Jones, I am not sure she handles experienced talent very well. Her on floor coaching isn’t great either.

I wish UT had kept the Lady Vols name retired. The LVs were Pat's program. Tennessee WBB doesn't even resemble Pat's program and no longer bears her standards.
It just can’t, man. Pat was one of a kind.

I know everyone is upset with Holly but I just feel bad for her most of the time. Pat was her best friend. They were sisters. She was closer to Pat than anyone else. Her best friend was taken away from her by that terrible disease and she was tasked with doing the impossible of living up to the standard arguably the greatest basketball coach of all time set.

I don’t envy her.

Chargers tried their best to give that away. Luckily they were playing Lamar Jackson

Gotta clean it up before next week
Definitely hope the chargers beat new England. Any rookie would have struggled against that defense though. Great game plan by gus Bradley to completely take away the RBS and get pressure on Jackson. Putting 3 safeties in at lb was something the ravens certainly weren't prepared for. I still think he will learn a lot from this season and will show he's a better passer than many think next year.

Welp sitting next to Nick Swardson watching NFL games in a bar is pretty sweet lol, just thought I’d let y’all know. He is a good dude. Surprisingly it seems like he follows pro football.
He is a huge Vikings fan and a hilarious follow on twitter about them.

I think we can all agree... **** New England

One of two things will happen imo. 1. Coley leaves, Chaney stays or the opposite.
GA fan who is a relative believes Coley is gone.
