Wyoming = 579,000 people. 3 votes in EC.

California = 39.5 million people. 55 votes in the EC.

Wyoming thus gets 1 EC vote for every 193,000 people.
California gets1 EC vote for every 718,000 people.

Seem fair?
A simple, no you don’t understand would have sufficed.

One final parting shot.

Who ratified the constitution? The states or the people?

I can easily find a state vote count on ratification. Can someone provide a popular vote count?

No you can’t. Thus the states are the constituents of the Republic not the people.

So for the love of God why would any state vote to diminish their equality in the Republic. If anything the less populous states should be arguing for an equal vote count per state so as to insure equal voice for all constituents of the Republic

No it isn’t. Wyoming and Kaliforicaton should both only get one vote.

Based on the actual constituents of the Republic it’s the correct vote count.

You do realize that there is no use of the word "republic" in the Constitution. The Constitution does use the word "republican" once, but there it only guarantees that each state shall have a republican form of government. The idea that the states--as opposed to the citizens--are the primary constituents of the United States is hogwash.

Who ratified the constitution. Show me the popular vote.

Your argument has zero juice and you know it so you keep deflecting to meaningless “points”.

France uses Universal Suffrage. We do not. And based on the method required to get states to diminish their vote I’ll bet big money we never do.

U Lose Again!

You never know, a sense of fairness and doing what is right occasional slips in. Men were willing to "diminish" their votes by granting women an equal vote. Whites were willing to "diminish" their votes by granting non-whites an equal vote. On rare occasions, people vote to do the right thing even when it is not in their self-interest. I know, that's a foreign concept for you.

That's a good way of avoiding the fact that there have been multiple amendments passed where people have voted to in essence diminish their own vote. Doing the right thing can lead to some unexpected results.

Crap like what? Attempting to improve the constitution through legal ways? That is a load of crap.

I’m not ignoring them at all. Women’s suffrage was the correct thing to do for our citizens. Abolishment of the EC is the absolute wrong thing to do for individual states equal footing in the Republic. If anything it needs to go to one vote per state.

After all... “there have been multiple amendments passed where people have voted to in essence diminish their own vote. Doing the right thing can lead to some unexpected results.” 😏

Luther, I've tried engaging them. It's not going to work. They know their only way to hold on to power is to cling to, and if possible enhance, anti-democratic mechanisms that will continue to allow them to punch above their weight.

No you didn’t. You lectured us on why we’re wrong and used appeals to authority and an incorrect form of our actual government as a basis to validate your BS.

SSDD from you.

Abolishment of the EC is the absolute right thing to do. Individual states keep an equal footing by having equal power in the senate. In elections, all votes are equal.

I explained that the EC was anti-democratic (as it treats the voting power of people differently based on where they live) and does not serve the purpose for which it was created (as a check on the excesses of populism/mob rule). The members of the college were intended to exercise independent judgment in casting their vote, the same way that a senator or representative is supposed to exercise independent judgment once elected. That would have been a real check on electing someone as unqualified and erratic as Trump. But as the EC operates in fact, it's no check at all. All it does is occasionally let the less popular candidate win based on where people live.

You're just butthurt that Donald Trump won the electoral college.
"Butthert" may be the most overused, juvenile, and meaningless term in the English language.
But yeah, I'm still taken aback by the fact that I live in a county that suffered a brief (hopefully) period of temporary insanity severe enough that it allowed a person as despicable as Trump to become the POTUS.

No I’m definitely right. And the amendment process of the constitution says I’ll be right for a long time. What’s your 38 state vote count to say I’m wrong.

The upper house of Congress and POTUS represent their constituents... the United States of America. The lower house represents the people.

And I’ve rejected your argument as having any validity multiple times and provided references why I’m right. I believe the entire basis of your argument is wrong. We do not utilize universal suffrage and never will. We utilize an EC.

France abolished their EC one or two Republics ago and are now universal suffrage. And they’ve got a bunch of elitist globalist dictating the shots and people are rioting in the streets. THAT is why our founders stuck to an EC.
