No, but I think that’s different. It would be like Sherrer leaving. Since defense is Pruitt’s expertise, he would get the benefit of the doubt.
So, with this thinking, since offense is not his expertise, isn't it a good thing that Pruitt, who needs to hire someone he can trust opposite him the line of scrimmage, is taking his sweet time to find that person?

in fairness, is it really a leap to say leaving Troy for WVU if offered, would take that long? and let's be honest, it's not like WVU was going to steal any big name coaches. they fished in the waters they were supposed to, and got their fish.

i mean, once we decided we wanted Butch Jones, we got him in less than a day. stole him right off the Colorado alter. don't think Dooley ever came to Knoxville for an actual interview, accepted the job on the phone...lol.

i have a feeling there were probably a dozen or so P5 jobs he would have bolted Troy for. let's not make it out like WVU accomplished something no one esle could.

Regardless they have hired some decent head coaches, you have to give them props.

Well that, and the way other teams replace coordinators is always fine. If it's UT, anything shy of hiring the hottest commodity within 3 days of the vacancy is to be viewed as incompetence from the governor's office down to the facilities staff.

i don't recall that being the point? but sure, they've done well hiring coordinators, retreads and now an up and comer.

and they'll still never be more than 3rd place team in that conference.

edit: point being, they know their place. they skipped a lot of layers of coaches to get to guys like Holgerson and the guy from Troy. the same people that will laud WVU for this hire, for being quick and decisive, are the same folks that would crucify the UT admin had htey hired a guy from Troy w/out first seeing if every big name coach in america would take the job.

Don't forget about the janitor. Hank hates to be left out.

Dont know anything about Tennstuds GOAT post but his watch parties and food menu were awesome. His house had more TN sports memorbilia than a museum. It was unreal.

I give the facilities staff 5 days.

Will this be 5 offensive coordinators and 3 or 4 strength coaches in 5 years? Is there another power five team that has had that?
