Pruitt Speaks to SARK and CANADA

After reading these coaching search forums.. tennessee fans will believe anything anybody says and be let down when a rumor with no sources doesn’t happen lol. I’m convinced a homeless person on the street can say “heard we’re getting steve spurrier” and next thing you know it’s a thread on VN. Amazing

The frustrating thing about this coaching search is it feels like every other coaching search we've had where A.) The AD seems to lack the ability to control the message, B.) That we are getting turned down by multiple candidates, and C.) There are multiple parties involved and none of them seem like they're on the same page. It's like a nightmarish version of Groundhog Day.

The bottom line is we were the very first program to have an OC position open and here we are. 40 days later and we are the last program to fill it. Dont tell me this was the plan all along. That's horsecrap! The problem as I see it is three-fold. 1. Word has gotten out from former coaches as to just how toxic it is to coach here under this administration and it's not good for anyone's career. 2. No high level OC is going to want to coach this offense thats so devoid of talent. And 3. The condition that Pruitt has set forth on these candidates of them not being able to bring their own guys in is really handcuffing us in terms of who would seriously consider the job.

maybe we're not the great program we think we are...need references?...:D

GO VOLS...RECRUIT LIKE HECK!

And I'm sure you don't.

I was curious because you said we didn't offer Canada but he turned us down. I asked how he turned us down if we didn't offer. You then asked me how did I know we didn't offer. I quoted you saying we didn't offer.

So, you're correct, I don't understand, but it really doesn't matter anyway, for whatever reason Canada will not be our OC.

I agree with most of what you said, but this is a different Administration. So what former coaches are bad mouthing us? Helton?

Tennessee has far higher expectations thab Kentucky. Pruitt will be given his time to figure it out, I just have my doubts that he will.

The fluff from fans has just lead to higher expectations. But what Pruitt does have in his favor current, is that fans are willing to constantly move the goal post in defense of him.

The difficult to work with is showing....with the Helton / OC (lack of) hire.
Of course they do. That's also not relevant to the point either.
We re talking about young coaches learning things the more they do there job.

This "fluff" from fans (of all people) sure seems to bother some. Does it really bother you that much that people that follow UT football think and probably even hope that he"s legit to the point they may have convinced themselves he will be?

In the long game it doesnt matter. The last guy figured that out when he thought everyone should be happy with missing Atl and the Sugar Bowl with the best team in the east that year. And a MCB win is what legends were made of.

It's incredible what people are willing to make up in their minds to defend a position they've created out of thin air.

I've enjoyed catching up from where I left off last night. My favorite is the conversation where the guy that always makes fun of people that blame the fans for our "problems", blames the fans for proclaiming how great of a coach Pruitt was before season as the main reason he won't improve.

" Incredible "? Yea, that's 1 that works.

Here is what he said:
“I think he (Sarkisian) would be a great fit at UT because he is a great recruiter and very personable,” Palet said. “Pruitt and Sark know what it takes to win at the highest level from Alabama, and I believe that Pruitt would hold Sark to that same standard as his offensive coordinator.”

“I definitely believe Pruitt can turn Tennessee around,” he said. “After I saw him take over the defense after Coach (Kirby) Smart’s departure, it showed that he is a guy that people follow. He is a great leader and gets players to buy-in. I do not see any reason why that can’t happen at UT.

“I believe that Pruitt would like to have a guy like Sark as his offensive coordinator because he knows he will handle his side of the ball. Sark and Pruitt share a bond of being championship level coordinators. The luxury of knowing that your offensive coordinator understands what it takes to take your program to the next level would be huge for UT as they are both very detail oriented.”

Thanks guy! Steve Spurrier is now #1 on my wish list! Didn’t realize he was even an option!

I realize it's a different administration but coaches out in the field at different locations will not make that distinction (I don't think). Negativity is negativity and once it sticks, it's HARD to get off of you.

I lived in LA when Sarkisian and Kiffin both were at USC....Sark is the better offensive mind from listening to PA sports radio back then...he was a better college HC off the bat than Kiffin. He’s got his demon but throw the bank at him...he’ll make our offense scary good and QB’s are his specialty. If we miss on him....its gonna be real bad for us to snag a solid hire with that type of big league college football experience.
He has failed everywhere he has been. Had all kinds of talent with Falcons and ran that offense into the ground. No Thanks!

I think we should have a moment of silence in honor of the passing of Canada. He had such promise.
Speaking of passing, I think we should also remember all of those whiteboards that paid the ultimate price in the service of Tennessee football. These sacrifices must not be in vain.

If you don't consider kicking white chalk boards and screaming at other coaches sideline antics then that you man. I'm Entitled to my opinion, it's backed up by the fact he can't hire a coach. The fact you blindly defend a God that you don't even know especially after his very rude antics that have been described by others is very fascinating to me. Are you in love with him? To seriously sit there in defend a man you don't even know especially in the face of other people talking about how rude he is is mind boggling. Can you grasps that?

But it's ok for you to blindly condemn the same man you don't know? There's plenty of people who say positive words about Pruitt. His antics on the sideline are not much different than a lot of the coaches out there. You are indeed entitled to your opinion as hypocritical as it sounds.

that's not true. Falcons are a horrible defensive team....the Falcons were a decent offensive team, in spite of all the player injuries.

I think he lost three of his staring Oline to injury. That may have been a reason why the offense was a little off. I slao remember that the defense gave up a lot of big plays which led to a number of the losses for the Falcons. I would love to see Shark as our OC.

And it's not like we don't know how to deal with "drinkers" as we have had at least two HC's that were really good while they were at the position. (who knows, there may have been or are more we the fans don't know about)
