Yeah I wish they had experience hiring guys or like football knowledge or something!

Haven't seen anyone hired yet that made me disappointed we didn't get them.

I dont know why everyone is sweating the Sark stuff, we have already hired Chaney weeks ago. Havent announced because Pruitt wants to troll the **** out of everyone

i think that's the thing. we don't know they're struggling.

it certainly appears that way.

maybe they are waiting til after next monday's game...to announce, interview, offer or whatever, someone on one of those staffs?

i can't really argue the point that things are "going great" or anything lol.

but if we hire the right guy, then no one will care how it happened.

if it's the wrong guy, then this just becomes clear evidence that we have buffoons in charge...............AGAIN.

i'm not ready to rush to that conclusion yet.......hope i don't have to mozy up to it either.

not going to lie, i would have liked Briles or Yurcich. have to wait and see who we get before i decide if i'm gonna be upset about it or not. lol.

We either never offered Yurcich or the offer that was floating around wasnt nearly as much as what was said. No way he turns that down to take that position at OSU......dont care how much he loves the area.

I don’t necessarily agree with this but is this how we ended up with Dave Clawson? Or was he the guy pretty early on?

CFB just doesn’t lend itself to Cinderellas like CBB. About the closest you will get is a program like Oregon that isn’t a historical powerhouse, that gets an infusion of resources somehow. Then those resources make it one of the powerhouses, so its a catch 22. CFB is just such a resource intensive sport, and combined with an apparent glass ceiling for G5 teams, it’s going to be impossible for a Cinderella to break through in the current climate.

This just doesn’t move me. I don’t see what value a playoff adds. People say it’s to determine the best team in the sport in a non-controversial way, but football playoffs are hardly a reliable way of determining that. There’s too much randomness. No one really thinks the 10-6 Giants were better than the 16-0 Patriots. That’s part of what makes the game fun — but it doesn’t guarantee we find out with certainty who the best team actually is.

A best-of-seven series would be more illuminating, but that’s not workable in football.

This is actually where I'm at, Freeze I think had red flags that were going to prevent him coming to the SEC otherwise Bama would have picked him up (they already tried last year). So despite the rumors I don't think he was a real candidate. Other than that no one has hired an OC that really jumped out.

Some rumored names going to other places of course, and Briles and Yurcich going elsewhere will sting some...but I think Briles was an iffy hire with the universities history and Baylor's scandal being too close for comfort. Plus his style probably isn't what Pruitt wants. Yurcich is positioning himself to land a HC job...if he has a great showing next year at OSU (which he will) then I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him offered a gig like the Cincinnati job if/when it opens up. Kind of get the vibe that he wants to be in/near Ohio where he grew up.

It appears to me that we are chasing our tail. But one thing that stands out to me is that CJP has a lot riding on this hire. This hire will likely decide either how long he will be here or how successful he could be. We just need to exercise patience and give him the time he requires to make the best fit hire.

Oh exactly it doesn’t matter if we went up having a better offensive season. No matter who it is.
