Saw a poll on Twitter earlier, and wanted to get VN's reaction to it.

"Your NFL team can have any one of the following, fresh out of college, for the next decade. Who do you pick??"

Emmitt Smith
Barry Sanders
Jim Brown
Walter Payton
Eric Dickerson
Adrian Peterson
LaDainian Tomlinson

I'll hang up and listen.

Sanders. Payton a close second.

Emmitt Smith was good but those Cowboy OLs from the 90’s were other worldly.

Made up of free agents and lower round draft picks. Most HOF worthy OL before Larry Allen towards the end of the dynasty was Erik Williams...and then the car wreck. Same line didn’t make Sherman Williams or Derrick Lassic even worth a ****...much less the all time leading rusher. Not a personal fan of Emmitt Smith since Walter Payton is a hero of mine, but that OL was great because of him.

SIAP. Bottom line, Vols are beggars when it comes to finding an OC willing to accept the roster limitations, tough SEC competition, and Friend situation. At least we can spend some ca$h.

Yep. Hardest schedule ever year with some of the the worst talent and terrible recent coaching in the sec with piss poor management at the top makes this job relatively unattractive outside the money at the moment. Just give it a few more years tho

LaDainian, all the way. He was like Marshall Faulk only with the secret weapon of being able to throw TD's.

Career passing stats: 8/12 143 yards 7 TDs

Stupid fun to watch, too.

Folks with orange tinted glasses. I believe we're gonna be in for a rough ride next year unless JG somehow turns into Peyton.
It's going to take another tough year and another good class added before it starts rising upward. I've got hopeful future expectations for Pruitt, but in no way could they be considered lofty.

Good to know we are going to be bottom-feeders forever with no hope of moving up.

Botch had us in the top 10 and was some boneheaded coaching mistakes away from a Sugar Bowl appearance, despite completely nuking the S&C program. Granted, he had some elite talent, but the guy couldn't evaluate players for **** and he still ended up with studs.

The Tennessee job is easier and more attractive than most of us think. It's the inept administration that makes it seem like a dumpster fire. It's apparently fairly easy to do well here provided you aren't a total imbecile as a head coach, and unfortunately for us, our last two head coaches are exactly that.

I was starting to believe we had a chance against WVU, UF, and would sweep Carolina/Vandy/Kentucky. WVU severely tempered my expectations not just for this year, but for the first three years. I'm in it with CJP for the long haul, 5 years minimum, fully expecting him to make a mistake or two along the way that'll cost us another season before we're back to prominence.

But I'm down for the stability. Clemson/Dabo argument. Taking it year by year.

Next year, with a favorable two bye weeks, I'm still only expecting 6-7 wins. OL won't come along really well until JG's RS Senior year-- 2020. And that's if we keep stability on the offensive coaching staff. Maybe by then we'll have a dang good defense, but our front seven is still worrisome.

It might be until 2021 or 2022 before we're in it like Bennett. I'm cool with that, because the prestige erodes with every single new head coaching hire.

Translation:
Blah blah blah, I know even less than most Knox media but let me get some clicks.
Thank you.
Think that Franklin dude yesterday was preaching twitter boys A to Z.com as some sort of recruiting gospel. Speaking of standards getting diabetic feet. 😬

No I’m asking not assuming lol..i was just asking you personally from a preference standpoint.
I didn’t appreciate Dan Brooks enough when he was in Knoxville. But I revered him in comparison to Garner. Garner has always been a superstar recruiter who holds a placemat as an on-field coach. Brooks knocked both out of the park!

lol no. MSU and UT are not similar, taking each team to top 10 isn’t the same. If you can’t see the difference that’s a big yikes
In this decade it is, current conditions do count..but let me say this one more time...clearly so you will shut up about it..

Mehlan did a great job at MSU...Happy?
