Ebbs and flows. Right now that statement is true for some of those programs. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s Bama fans were saying “We have a long way to go to catch Tennessee.”
Exactly because he’s basing it all on team success which does not define a program. Only reason Clemson is on this list is because of their success the past 5 years. They have literally nothing to offer more than Tn than current team success. That does not define the program.

If this were 2005, GA, Bama, and Clemson, would not have been mentioned by Hank.

The only thing that makes Ga and Fl the better job is in state talent. The only reason Bama is viewed as a better program is current success under Saban. Again, that does not define the program. When Saban retires and Bama returns to normal, will they no longer be a better program if TN starts whipping then again like we did under Fulmer? That doesn’t make sense

See, posts like this, coupled with your opinion of the staff makes me question if you're really a Tennessee fan, or merely an employee.

What? That’s not a negative thing. We are a top 15 program. There’s nothing wrong with saying that. I’m a huge jets fan but there’s nothing wrong with saying the patriots are a better organization

Seriously though, that doug matthews thing was like he was trying to talk directly to Kingston vol to let him know that Pruitt had it under control. Hahaha. Trying to figure out which OC matthews was talking about when he clearly stated he wasn't given a name is about as useful as punching a wall. And whoever claimed he said that the coach had sec experience may need help. I just don't even understand how this conversation has been going on this long based on just hearing what you want to hear instead of the actual word that were said.
I quoted myself with the article, from this very thread. Posted the article twice.

I don't even listen to Mathews and don't care what people think about him. I have just been completely confused about why so many have been determined to misquote him.
Strange.

History, location, recruiting profile, administrative commitment, facilities, success, budget, path to success...etc.

While we may be better in some of these aspects...they are as a whole better. Nothing wrong with being a top 15ish? Program.

AND THERE IT IS...... settling for mediocrity.

I’m still just trying to figure out how Bass thinks UF is so much better than us and easier to recruit to. Yet we’re equal to Osu

History? TN is top 10 all time in wins. One of the richest traditions in all of college football. In other words, up there with every top program out there.

Location? Not sure what you mean, but Knoxville is a great and beautiful place.

Recruiting profile? Yes, there are some schools with more in state talent like Ga and that gives them a recruiting advantage. But as we are seeing right now, Pruitt with limited time is going to sign a top 12 class with some of the best players in the country from states other than TN. UT attracts top talent.

Administrative commitment is why we’re in the current mess we are in. Not too many programs now with more administrative commitment than we have with Phil running the AD. That’s why we’ve spent so much money on coaches. Ask your boy Helton and the fact that Fitz is so highly paid.

Facilities are as good as anyone in college football. I don’t think anyone out there would disagree with this.

Budget? Uhhh... while can use improvement, TN has the highest recruiting budget out there and is investing more than ever in football right now.

Path to success? All of the things I just mentioned add up to success. We have been bad for a while, but it will flip and I won’t have to have this argument with anyone again when it happens. Only reason we’re having it now is because of what Dools and the intern did to this program following the Kiffin debacle.

I’m not saying we’re the top program. I’m saying we are right there with anyone in the country. And we are. At every level except current team success which ebbs and flows.

Well yes there isn’t a huge gap between us and them. It’s harder to win at TN then it is at UF (which is your whole argument against Mullen), FSU, or the.l the big dogs in TX, California, Georgia.

My whole argument against Mullen? All I’ve said about Mullen is that he sucks at recruiting. Yes, there is more in state talent in Florida so that’s better for him because theres more local talent than there is here. Not sure why that’s a thing.

If it’s harder to win here then why are we top 10 in wins? You didn’t answer a single point I made. You’re just talking crap and trolling.

Yeah I've never listened to his show and didn't see the article till you posted it today. But now I know pretty much everything that's been said based on Doug matthews is completely misinterpreted. Thanks. I'm sure it won't help much though cause people are still gonna read there own fantasies into it anyway. Smh.

“We’re a better job than Florida but Mullen could do what’s he’s doing there here”
When did I say we’re a better job than Florida? You’re very good at putting words in people’s mouths. Florida has a recruiting advantage that we don’t have. That’s true. That’s why Mullen will get some talent there. And by that I mean about 15th-20th. He wouldn’t get talent here because we don’t have that in state talent. Not sure why that’s hard to understand. He sucks at recruiting.
