Not to say that they would think Holgo is worth it but Houston could absolutely pay as much as almost anyone. Pretty sure Herman was making 3 per when TX came calling and I think Houston offered to bump that up to 4 a year.

Holgerson makes a little less than 4 million. I guess if he just wants to take the same salary and reset his clock. But I don’t think Houston will be able to pay the same for his staff. They could bump Briles because Applewhite wasn’t making that much. Houston may have top G5 money but still won’t offer what any P5 school can.

That wasn’t a shot at Pruitt lol. It’s jjst that he isn’t a salesman like Bruce pearl was and he has no problem with recruiting. UT is an elite program and anyone can recruit here. That’s my whole point.

Not just anybody can recruit REAL elite talent here, at least not in the current situation.

You also have every school in the country digging from that state. Players don’t really grow up with draws to a certain Florida school as much as a TN kid to TN or a Georgia kid to Georgia etc.

But regardless is Mullen is a good recruiter and Great head coach then wouldn’t that yield very good results no matter where he’s at? He’s won at miss st and now doing well at Florida? I have no idea how you can say he wouldn’t have done the same here. Are we worse as a program than Miss st? Bc were no and we play in the softer division

First, show me the Tn kids with loyalty to UT. Where are they at? Most of them are going to UGA if you haven’t paid attention.

He won at Ms State? Won what exactly? His best win was over an 8-4 LSU team.

What he’s he won at Florida? A win in a meaningless bowl game against a mediocre big 10 team with 3 of their best players sitting out? Color me impressed.

Not when it comes to relating to kids. You really think his media persona is the same around kids? Pruitt can recruit circles around Mullen and many other coaches.

Dude recruiting real elite talent here is and always has been harder than it is at other historically elite programs. You are seeing elite recruiters struggle to do it right now..then again I do think it is much easier to recruit elite talent here, and can be done consistently when they are not trying to rebuild a program nuked into ashes.

Butch brought in two elite classes. He competed against plenty of major programs and won. The development was bad

Yup. Those wins against Kentucky and auburn are 100% the coaches and 0% players and the losses by 25+ are 100% players and 0% coaches. Agree.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I think the staff was almost miraculously able to rouse them enough to turn in the only solid performances they got out of a lot of them all year.

Trick question...we didn’t slow play him. So happiness or sadness from him picking Florida over us is irrelevant.

Butch recruited talent. Just didn’t sustain that recruiting or develop it.

Lol you call that a meaningless season/win at Florida over a 10 win Michigan team in a bowl game in which we would kill for. What bowl are we in again? I can’t remember? When is the last time we won 10 games? If Pruitt did that here in year 1 he would have a statue. But it’s not Tn so it’s meaningless
