Things built, torn down and other projects.(Pictures)

For example this bathroom “might” have a toilet leak View attachment 178232
When we corrected the remuddle of our dinky South Knoxville house 30-some-odd years ago, we found that the toilet was supported solely by the sheet vinyl flooring. Everything underneath had rotted away.

It would have taken only one "hard sit" to send the sitter to the crawlspace below.

We live in perilous times!!

I've been busy. Had a lot going on and to be honest, this place hasn't been a ray of sunshine this year. I've got enough negativity right now without adding to it.

So I've just kept my head down and been grinding through it. Things are easier to deal with sometimes if you just stay busy.

Finished up 4 smaller buildings/barns and started this one about 2 weeks ago. About halfway done with it. Then I have a general store built around 1900 and 2 small barns. Then I'm probably heading north for awhile. Maybe Ohio, maybe Illinois, maybe Kentucky. Haven't decided yet.

I'll try to check in more often.

@Orangeslice13, let me know if you ever want to expand over the mountains. We're moving to our "big house" (originally bought to retire in, but we picked up a 2BR/1BA for the interim) in February, and the kitchen and bathrooms need help, plus some general stuff (reversing closets to open into different room, moving an electrical panel and the wall it's on, etc.) It's a great 1923 house, structurally sound. (as far as we know)

Pretty much know you don't want to commute this far :p but if you know someone in the WNC area who you would hire to work on your own place, please holler. We put a lot of trust in our contractors.

No biggie. I've got my hands full. But if she changes her mind, I've made some new contacts that can build anything you want.

I now have access to warehouse space so I can store my wood and start shipping full tractor trailer loads.

And @Orangeslice13 , I'll be offering finished wall board soon. It will be kiln dried, planed down to 1/2 inch and have a lap joint.

I can have it ripped into any width you want. Just something else you can offer your customers. And I can beat even most online prices.

That’s awesome.

I already have a barn to take down in Illinois. May soon have 3 in Ohio.

Those are money barns up in those states. Many are hand hewn timber frames. 💰💰

Hey, @Orangeslice13, questions for you
In the remodel of our den, should we install baseboard before replacing carpet, or afterward?
In the remodel of our den, can the trim around or chimney be installed using a nail gun to affix the wood trim to the brick? If not, what method(s) do you suggest?
Thanks.

The trim is around the top, at the ceiling.

Put any flooring down before the base. And nail the crown into the ceiling

Edit. There will be 2x next to the brick that the Sheetrock is attached too

Dave is at PC Beach working in the rebuilding effort. Have not heard back from tony yet
Thanks, I’m moved to hear that you have a friend working in hurricane recovery!

We probably won’t be switching houses until the beginning of February, and there’s enough family drama that even that might be delayed, so we’re good we just know that with the hot market here, we must line things up in advance as much as possible. And even then, we’ll be prioritizing the projects.

We really appreciate your help.
