I'm trying to remember an incident involving Casey Clausen when he was a senior and a captain of the football team when Phil Fulmer replaced him as starting quarterback in a game and Casey had to come back in the game to win it in the last quarter. Can anyone give me a hand by filling the details in for me, if I'm remembering this scenario correctly? I recall being very upset at Phil and Sanders at the time, but happy that Casey won the game for us.

You sure that wasn't Rick? Certainly sounds like Rick.

I remember Casey sitting very little his senior year. I remember CJ Leake getting garbage time early in the season starts the end of the game (maybe Fresno or Marshall).

The stubbornness of Fulmer to force fit Rick Clausen into a sharing QB role in 2005 was that years downfall. It started in the opening game against UAB. Ainge started and zipped us down the field first two drives for two scores and a 10-0 lead. Clausen then came in for his turn and we sputtered from then on, eeking out a 17-10 win. South Carolina game was the worst. Defense kept giving us the ball well inside USCe territory and Clausen led us to negative yardage and no points. I still believe had Ainge just been declared the rock solid starter from the beginning, we are a 10-2 season.

I remember (I think) his first 2 attempts in the regular season LSU game were interceptions. I know he wasn't pulled that game and I'm pretty sure he only ever missed time due to injury.

Cracked a clavicle on the non throwing shoulder late in a game I believe.

I'm pretty sure he didn't tell anyone and threw a late TD with that injury

I remember one of my MC friends (bigger than Casey I will add) was hitting on Casey’s “friend” Lady Vol Brittany Jackson at a club in Knoxville eventually getting a dance and a number, and Casey was all bent out of shape about it. Wanting to fight until he got a better look at my buddy. They didn’t ever fight but I think Casey was known as a bit of a hot head.

Oh man I bet I know your friend. I remember something similar happening at Liquid (which was a club on the Strip). Casey and Brit Jackson were both there and Casey had a posse of dudes with him. This would've been late August 2003.

Yeah that would have been the time. Are you an MC alum?

I'll never forget what Rick did against LSU and TAMU. If he would have just had better arm strength he could have been elite

Rick Clausen at LSU. He came in for Ainge and led the come back. Then he acted all butt hurt in the post game TV interview.
Rick had a score to settle with Saban and LSU.
