A few thoughts on yesterday from Callahan...

I’ve covered some good days for Tennessee in recruiting over the past eight years, but I can’t think of too many that have been better for the Vols than this one. In a span of about eight hours, they announced the signings of a former five-star defensive lineman with two years of major college experience — the equivalent of a junior-college prospect, but probably even better than the typical highly ranked juco player — and a top-50 athlete who once was rated a five-star and still might have a chance to be a five-star if he can put together a strong showing the week of the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

With Aubrey Solomon potentially having to sit out the 2019 season — we’ll have to wait and see about that — I can’t help but think ahead to the help the Vols already have on the way in the 2020 class. Even if Solomon sits out the 2019 season, if they can hold onto their early 2020 commitments for another year, they could add the following players to the mix in time for the 2020 season:

— An elite junior-college edge rusher, Jordan Davis
— A top-100 QB, Harrison Bailey
— And a former five-star defensive lineman, Aubrey Solomon, who by then will have been in Tennessee’s program for a year

Those are just a few pieces, and you need to surround them with plenty more to have a good team. But especially if Tennessee can finish off the 2019 class with five-star OT Darnell Wright and another nice player or two, it’s starting to get a little bit easier to envision the Vols having a pretty competitive roster — at least on paper — in time for the 2020 season.

Does anyone in the know or are up to date on if we have any LBs going to commit to Tennessee or are “high priority” targets that we could possibly flip or are leaning to join our team?? If we can have some good 4 Star with great instincts to join Crouch/JJ and the rest of or LB crew we could have a really good core of LB which is the key to Pruitt’s defense sheme.

Anyone anyone Bueller...

They are losing their minds over all the talent who has left the program in 2 years and situations like Solomon and Crouch on same day bring out the crazy in a fan base.

Their actual frustrations are they have an iconic coach, so inconic they can't fire him at this point, who cannot find a way to beat Ohio State. Harbaugh is wonderfully all alone in he record book at Michigan for losing the most games in a row to Ohio State. No other coach has been allowed to remain as coach to lose so many! Lol, it's funny I think Michigan remains a 2nd tier program and benefits from playing it's usual favorable schedule. it's not about their talent, they don't do a lot with it no matter who shows up IMO.

I always thought I was too immature, too poor, too stupid, too selfish, too whatever to have kids at (insert time) and kept putting it off. Now, we're in our 40s and pregnancy would be high risk and as I see the window slowly closing I regret it. I wish I'd have simply thrown caution to the wind because I think in many ways I needed the rudder that kids would've provided. I'll tend to spin my wheels without much thought if all I have to think about is myself but I've always been a great advocate for others and kids would've likely given me the direction I needed despite all the financial responsibilities they bring.

It tends to be the childless that get shunned because it's rarer for a long term couple not to have kids but no one should ever be talked down to for the choice they make reproductively. Life happens and we all have our reasons/struggles. That said, I'm greatful to every parent that has kids (well except when they're screaming in my ear - lol) because those kids have grown up to become my own when they've been in my classroom. Youth reminds age of the things in life that we can so easily forget if we're not around it.
Never too late to make an impact Foster/adopt

This place is so much fun after a good recruiting class or a win. But there are a few on here who just can't get out of there own way. I thought it might be a day or two before the "yeah, but" started. Nope, maybe 6-8 hours later. Hard to take anybody seriously that has nega attached to the week we just had. There are some kickazz football players in this class that are equal to what Bama, UGA, LSU pull in. Just what CJP promised. Fitz stayed. Nieds, FTW.

By the time CRB gets through on Rocky Top he will have wished he had gone straight across the mountain from Clemson to the real UT instead of wasting time in Austin. I have never seen a more poised, well coached basketball team. If they stay humble, healthy and continue to work hard the first men's FF banner may be raised in TBA.

i'm not apposed to an internal hire though. osovet would probably do a really good job. optics are what they are, but if you get what you want/need, does it really matter when you get it?

not really fired up for an internal hire but the only optics I care about are wins and losses next year

Edit: Meant for the other guy...

I'm turning 41 this year and trying for a third.

I get what you're saying. But, if you keep telling yourself things to NOT do it. Imagine what you could accomplish by the reverse.

Anyway, if you think its too high a risk. There are tons of great kiddos who need loving homes in FC/Adoption. Sincerely, I respect anyone who takes on that challenge...

Good luck.. moving on....hopefully we'll have some good recruiting news today.

Unfortunately, he was told that by a coach at TX. 🤔😕😞

Does Shaw have a rb spot open? He doesn't have an issue with white RBs. I swear our human biases are so silly. We see someone of this or that shade do this or that and just assume it means the other can't. Complete nonsense but that's how many still are.
