Solomon has been injured a lot. A year of S&C could help him get healthy. Or he could hire a fixer like Fields and petition for a waiver. Will be interesting to see if he does petition-- though it could be handled quietly.

On what grounds do you think he would petition?

Sounds like he needs a year to get healthy, put some good weight on with Fitz, and then go ball out in Neyland stadium as a RsSO.

Edit: Actually, he may end up being a RsJR if he did that. He played almost the whole year in 2017 and only 5 games during the 2018 season.

I really don't know anything about Solomon's situation. But if it's not clear cut, they usually petition under mitigating circumstances that impact the SA's health and well-being. The NCAA looks at it situationally and has been known to cast a wide net. I'll look up the verbiage.

Did the VQ guys say anything yet? I listened to their podcast earlier and they didn't even hint at Solomon coming to UT.
“I knew TN had kicked tires but was floored they got him locked down. Have spoke to some people who tell me it’s not a lock but there is optimism that he can get waiver to play right away.”

Someone do the math factoring in Solomans original ranking on how it would add to our class ranking/rating (assuming if he could play in 2019)

Here's the verbiage from the recent NCAA amendment to transfer waiver guidelines for student-athletes seeking immediate eligibility following a transfer. This amendment was effective April 18, for transferring student-athletes who are seeking immediate eligibility for the 2018-19 academic year.

Specifically, immediate eligibility may be provided to a transfer student-athlete, provided:

a. The transfer is due to documented mitigating circumstances that are outside the student-athlete’s control and directly impact the health, safety and well-being of the student-athlete;

b. At the time of transfer to the certifying institution, the student-athlete would have been athletically and academically eligible and in good standing on the team had he or she remained at the previous institution;

c. The certifying institution must certify that the student-athlete meets percentage-of degree requirements; and
The previous institution’s athletics administration does not oppose the transfer.

Treating Solomon as Travon Walker. Solomon was 23 on the composite, Walker is 24 this year. Would put us at 6 assuming we land Crouch/Wright.

Thanks. I would imagine there's a fairly broad scope of circumstances that could fall under that description.
