2019 Offensive Starting Lineup (with new recruits)

first time, long time........

another year of depending on young depth, but game 1 offensive starters look good on paper. just with our WR's alone, the offense should make strides.

Running the ball is the main goal but a young OL will need the speed / skill guys to carry the load in the open field for a while before they are ready to run block for 30 times per game during the SEC schedule; expect a lot of quick outs to Ty Chandler / Eric Gray to pull in defense. once the 2nd level throws open up, the offense will be able to be balanced and play possession football, without an early dominate running game.......

If Kennedy stays healthy at Center, that allows last years OL returners and this years OL recruits to fill only 2 OL positions. (unless Trey Smith is unable to return). thats a lot of OL talent to fill 2 positions.

WR 1 - Callaway
WR 2 - Jennings
WR 3 - Palmer

LT - T. Smith (?)
LG - J. Johnson
Center - B. Kennedy
RG - D. Wright
RT - W. Morris

TE - DWA
QB - J. Guarantano
RB - Ty Chandler

Wrong
Two true freshmen are not going to be starting.
Carvin will start on next year’s line. Ryan Johnson needs to either make massive strides or leave.

Of the OLine signed only those two will even sniff playing time. The rest are projects

Next year will be another hard year. Might as well look towards the future and give the young guys the reins. We know what JG gives us. Mediocrity.
The next decade will be hard because the East is getting tougher and 11 SEC teams are in the top 25 in recruiting. Pruitt needs to figure out how to do less with more. This mentality that you’re going to have a roster like Bama and just push others around will get him fired.

Not with proper coaching.

Of course that is assuming he will actually have an OC by spring practice.

IMO, if JG will learn to not "squeeze" the ball so much he can become a very effective leader of the offense. He doesn't seem to trust his receivers to be where they are supposed to be and sometimes wants them.to be open before he commits to the throw. Understandable but he needs a little bit of coaching up by Tyler Bray, a young man not afraid to throw it wherever and whenever he saw fit.

I like JG and still believe he can be developed to the point that allows the offense to be productive and score points. But it honestly depends on the coaching

I hope you are right. And I hope we have the coaching. We do have a former qb heismen winner on our staff.

If JG is starting, we are screwed.
Who are we gonna replace him with?

He's a seasoned veteran at this point, and throws a pretty ball. Shrout is just as immobile as he is and has never played in a game.

I think you are extremely hamstrung in college football if you don't have a mobile QB. Especially with all the athletic pass rushers in the SEC. It's a shame Pruitt seems to have zero interest in recruiting a QB with some speed.

Better hope Jordan Murphy starts at one of the WRs. Need someone who can run past a DB.

Trey won't be back. Doubt JJ is back, either.

LT Wanya Morris
LG Carvin/Niehaus
C Kennedy/Johnson
RT Richmond/Wright
RG J. Johnson/Wright
WR1 Callaway
WR2 Keyton
WR3 Murphy
RB Chandler
TE DWA
QB JG

Assuming we get Wright (we all hope he signs with us), starting 2 true FR on the OL is a risky proposition. But honestly, it wouldnt surprise me if that happens.

If they are good, I wouldn't think its too risky starting as a freshmen. Trey Smith did and also did a very good job. If I'm not mistaken Mays started at Ga.

Imo
LT W. Morris/ Tatum
LG J Carvin/ J.Johnson
C Kennedy/ R. Johnson
RG (If healthy) T. Smith (if not) Calbert
RT Wright (Hopefully) (if not) I guess Richmond or Tatum

Wr 1 Callaway
Wr 2 Jennings
Wr 3 Palmer
TE DWA
TE 2 Wolfe
Rb Chandler
Jordan
Gray
Last but certainly not least QB JT Shrout

I like JG I just don't think he has a good internal clock and Is slow doing anything even his drop backs, doesn't have a very good arm either, I know he had a good accuracy rating but most throws were 3-5 yards from scrimmage or 50/50 balls our wrs came down with. It may sound like I'm bashing him but I'm really not, he is as tough as they come and has given his all for UT and I for one am grateful for him. I just believe we have better QBs on our team now. Maybe I'm wrong but an internal clock is not something you can coach either you have it or you don't.

Yeah, jeez. 6th in the SEC behind the SEC's worst OL?! That makes him, like, the worst qb in the sec, right?!

lol you have zero stats or facts, only ignorance.

How many times did this happen, and how is it JG's Fault?!?!? Just asking??

Granted this is AL but this same result happened over and over all season!!
Somebody Totally Untouched Blasts JG at full speed in less than 1.5 Seconds??
Peyton couldn't get rid of ball quickly enough!!!

UGA had a true freshman and a RS freshman starting on the right side of their SECCG championship team in 2017. If they're the best out there they ought to play. Bama and UF routinely start freshmen on their OLs. But good ol Rocky Top, well we know better than those programs routinely beating our sorry donkeys for the last ten years or so, right?

Most rational people should expect next year to be rough as well.

I don't, I expect it to be better...law of average and some players coming in that will make an impact...gonna hit that magical six wins and go bowling...just disregard that I said that last season...:D

GO VOLS...RECRUIT LIKE HECK!

IMO, and this is strictly from that clip and not seeing the entire field, it appears he should have read the safety coming up on his left and realized a blitz was coming from the LBer. That sack is actually one I'd blame on JG more than the Oline, again based only on the clip.

It is tough for an Olineman to see all of the defensive movement once in their stance. Thus JG has to read this movement and be aware a blitz is coming and make adjustments accordingly.

With all that said the O line did look lost many times this season and there could be multiple causes for that besides lack of effort or ability.

Edit...I just rewatched that clip...JG is terribly at fault there and I would hope in the film room he was taken to task for his obvious laser focus on his right side pre-snap. It is also apparent that he is throwing that way and doesnt bother to even acknowledge there are players anywhere on the filed except to his right.

This stuff can be coached out of him but he can learn simple stuff like this by watching film himself.

Well we were sitting in a 5 wide set with AL showing an all out blitz. Yes the center and guard did mix assignments. Although should have brought his RB back in for protection. That's the kind of thing I stated previously on JG has to learn to get his offense set up better pre snap.
